I'm a solo singer/songwriter and I'm wanting to get a few gigs playing cover songs at various low-key kind of places. I have a rather diverse style, but I mainly do folk-rock stuff. I'm looking for ideas and advice on some good songs to learn and play - just me and an acoustic guitar. Any ideas?
Great Big Sea's "Sea of No Cares" done in a slow-ballad style. The have some awesome numbers and I see you doing it nicely.
Also try Oysterband's "By Northern Light". That would suit your style perfectly.
Lastly, there's a song called "Living Proof" by the Paperboys. Very good pop-folk song, would be nice to hear your version.
O, and one more funny tune, "Straight to Hell" by Great Big Sea. Lyrics to chorus as follows:
Love me now while we're alive
It's the best thing we can do
We'll have no time upon cloud 9
So heaven on earth will have to do
I can sing like a bird
And dance like a demon
And I do it all so well
'Cause I made a deal with the devil, and when I die
I'm going straight to hell!
I'm going straight to hell!!!
Thanks TK. I'll be checking these out. Thanks for listening to my stuff
Ha ha, good lyrics!

The latest revelations about google and their bias clearly shows a problem with this company and also the social media that they are a part of. The only thing they understand is $$$. If half their customers are to walk away, do you think they will finally get it? I normally are not big on boycotts....

When did you choose?Sexuality. When did you choose? Were you young? Old? After an interesting experience, or a disturbing one?My belief is that if one states that sexuality is a choice, then it is one they have obviously had to make - to be straight, or to be gay. So, I'm looking to see when...
