Have you ever started a business?
If so, what was it? Was it hard? Was it fun? Did you ever stop?
I started a mortgage inspection business. I love it some days and hate it others. I start getting employee routes ready at 5 am and close out orders until midnight some nights. I love the job and hate the managment aspect of it, especially if I have a bad employee that makes my life harder. Overall though I wouldn't change much of anything. It's worth getting to stay home with my children.
I started an accounting firm from scratch in the mid-1980's. It wasn't hard to do from the technical point of view, but it took several years to build a good client base. I sold it in 2002. Definitely enjoyed being my own boss, but the hours could be long.
I started a cleaning bussiness forever ago and decided cleaning was not for me.
I'm in the process of thinking up the next business plan here as I LOVE the business/marketing side of things. It's the niche that I can't seem to figure out...so many things interest me but there not all "business friendly".
I started an online business called http://www.bizlistings.com.au and it was the best thing I ever did. I really enjoyed the experience and found it to be very rewarding once I went live.
It was even more rewarding when business owners started uploading their businesses for sale.
Today we are one of the most visited business for sale sites in Australia and we continue to provide an outstanding advertising service.

Yes, I started my first business when I was 7 years old. My brother and I did custom lawn mowing and shrub pruning for several years. Didn't always like it, especially on hot days, but we saved our money and had finances saved to start college.
When I was 28, I went to work for a drywall contractor who specialized in taping and finishing by hand. He was able to offer superior quality. He trained me well, and a year later, I went into business for myself. I have worked at it for over 40 years, supported my family of five kids and helped them with college.
I did enjoy the hard work. It kept me healthy and trim, and I enjoyed an excellent reputation as a craftsman. Now, I work part time - for the exercise and extra money.
Check out my hubs. I have a couple on drywall work.
