Hubbers Who Have Been My Support System: Installment Seventeen

Updated on October 13, 2012

A Word From A Grateful Hubber

I don’t know about all of you, but I have a lot to be grateful for! I have put myself in a position where I have the freedom to write for a living; in other words, I follow my passion each and every day. That is a gift for this man; after forty-five years of working for others, I am finally working for myself, and isn’t that a beautiful place to be?

However, if I did not have feedback from other writers and supporters, I would be just one more writer-wannabe, typing out words for my amusement alone, and that is a lonely existence indeed. Oh, I’m sure there is some self-gratification in writing just for me, but I much prefer writing for others and then interacting with them about my writing. I become a better writer because of feedback. I am motivated to improve because of feedback, and my writing takes on a personal nature because of feedback. My followers energize me and that, too, is a beautiful thing.

I often think of a writer on HubPages who quit a couple months back. She had written a Hub that was important to her, personally, and she received no comments on it. She then quit HubPages the next day. I still find that extremely sad. The interaction we have with each other is crucial for each of us; that’s what makes HubPages such a great community. That is why I feel compelled to write these thank you Hubs, so that my followers know just how important they are to me. I read every comment and I respond to every comment. That is the least I can do; hopefully, Hubs like this add to my show of appreciation. You all mean a great deal to me and I hope you know that.

Having said all that, it is time to single out some more special people in my life, people who have gone out of their way to leave meaningful and touching comments to me. They do not have to do such things, but because of their giving nature, they do so practically every time I write a Hub. I am touched by their comments and I am very grateful.

I hope all of you will take the time to visit their sites and follow them; you just might make a friend along the way, and come to appreciate them as much as I do.

A grateful writer!

MEL, MY BELLE

Corny, yes, but that’s the best I could do this Sunday morning. MelChi is her Hub name, but I just call her Mel and she is a friend of mine.

The first words on her profile say that she is a dreamer. Right off the bat I liked her. I like dreamers, and I like people who follow their dreams. Read the following and you will see that she puts her money where her mouth is . http://melchi.hubpages.com/hub/leaving-a-full-day-job-to-become-a-freelance-writer...in other words, this lady is not afraid to back up advice with action.

Give her a visit; it is well-worth your time. One final note about Mel: I love her zest for life. She is one of those people who have found the secret to happiness, and that’s the kind of person I want by my side.

PSTRAUBIE48

I have no idea what that Hub name means, but to me it means loyalty as a follower. She was a teacher for over forty years so right out of the chute she has my respect, but more than that, she is a positive human being who is oh, so supportive.

She wrote a lovely Hub about why we are here on this planet. Do yourself a favor and give it a read at http://pstraubie48.hubpages.com/hub/Why-We-Are-On-The-Planet. It is my favorite of her works and I’m sure you will gain an appreciation for this gifted writer after you read it.

ANYONE WANT TO TRAVEL?

Well, then I have the person for you! Travel About is her Hub name, and she is one of those people who instantly strikes you as genuine and kind. She hails from Maryland and she is happily married, and she is one of those people who walk the talk. Would you like some advice on how to keep that spark in your relationship? Read http://travelabout.hubpages.com/hub/Creativity-Tips-For-Love-Relationships and find out how a pro does it.

On a personal note, this lady has been very kind to me. Her praise has been glowing, and when I see that she has commented I instantly smile. That is a gift, and I want to take this moment to tell her thank you from the bottom of my heart.

ANYONE INTERESTED IN A TATTOO?

Ricky is his real name; thelyricwriter is his Hub Name, and to me he is a gem. He tells us in his profile that he is blessed by his wife and children. Those words tell us that he has his priorities straight.

He has done a series of Hubs about tattoos. Okay, I don’t have a tattoo, nor am I terribly interested in ever having one. Having said that, I read every one of his tattoo Hubs because he makes them so interesting. Try out http://thelyricwriter.hubpages.com/hub/Beta-Fish-Tattoos-And-Designs-Beta-Fish-Tattoo-Meanings-And-Ideas-Fighting-Fish-Tattoos and see if you don’t agree. The photos are great! Ricky is quality through and through; he wrote a comment yesterday on my PIPO Hub that had me in tears. Go meet him!

A SPARK…A GLIMMER….A WONDERFUL HUBBER

My headings are pretty corny but my intent is sincere. This lady is fairly new to HubPages but she has already cemented a place in my heart. She is a stay-at-home mom, a substitute teacher, and a volunteer for different causes. She is also very genuine and just a good person.

Here is my favorite Hub of hers http://glimmertwinfan.hubpages.com/hub/10-Fun-Plants-To-Get-Kids-Into-The-Garden. I’m all about getting kids involved in nature and learning responsibility, and this Hub is an excellent example of someone writing with passion about a subject they enjoy.

Please stop by and say hello to this lovely lady; I’m willing to bet you will want to follow her. Oh, by the way, her Hub name is Glimmer Twin Fan.

KRIS HEETER IS HER NAME

Now it is time to be a bit embarrassed. Kris has followed me for six months, but for whatever reason, she fell through the cracks during the first sixteen installments of this series. Her time has finally come.

Kris is a research scientist, from Indiana I believe, and she is one smart cookie. However, before you start feeling intimidated by her intelligence, let me tell you that she has the ability to write about complex information and “dumb it down” for those of us not quite as gifted as she is. Try this Hub about technology http://krisheeter.hubpages.com/hub/Advances-in-Nanotechnology-and-Uses-of-Nanoparticles. Naonparticles??? Believe it or not, when I got through with that Hub I actually knew what that words meant. J Thank you Kris and I’m sorry this took so long.

WHAT IS A HABEE?

I’ll tell you what a Habee is: it is someone with over 1,000 Hubs and over 3,000 followers, who in three years has amassed a blizzard of interesting and entertaining articles about a variety of subjects.

This lady is a former teacher, as shown in this Hub http://habee.hubpages.com/hub/How-to-be-a-Good-Teacher. Valuable information is her niche, and every word she writes springs from a fountain of personal knowledge.

I am in awe of her portfolio. I also am in awe that she takes the time to read my works. Honestly, I don’t know how she finds the time to do everything that she does, but I’m happy that she follows me.

MORE LATER

I would love to go on, but Bev is calling me to lunch and insisting that I stop on this Sunday. We all need a Bev in our lives, someone who loves us enough to make sure we stay healthy, physically and mentally. You can meet my Bev under her Hub name kingmaxler. She is also worth a visit.

Until next time, to my 900 + followers, thank you for everything. I love HubPages, and although I’m sure there are those out there who will doubt this next line, I will say it anyway….I love all of you.

2012 William D. Holland (aka billybuc)…..just call me Bill in your comments. We are, after all, friends!
