Hubbers Who Have Been My Support System: Installment Sixteen

Yikes! I am so far behind in my thank you notes to the awesome Hubbers who support me. What can I say as an excuse? Not much; just getting slow in my old age so forgive me please!

If you aren’t familiar with this series then allow me to summarize as best I can. I am incapable of properly describing the gratitude I have for my followers. Words are not adequate no matter how many times I mix and match them.

I started out on HubPages just wanting to be a part of a writing community. I wanted to toss out some writing and see if I could find someone to give me feedback. Holy Cow did I get feedback! Today is my seven month anniversary and it has been a wild and crazy ride of love and mutual respect. Within two weeks of posting my first Hub I was embraced by a core group of veteran Hubbers who guided me, encouraged me, and supported me. They held onto me until I could stand alone and ever since then I have felt it necessary to say thank you in this series and in some small way give back to this wonderful community.

Today I try to do the same thing to new Hubbers after they join. I think it is so important that someone in the community reach out to the newcomers and encourage them to continue. I also think we receive so much from doing this. What a thrill it is to watch a new writer grow in their craft and gain confidence as they travel the same road we traveled when we began.

Before I begin I really need to say thank you to Beverly, the love of my life. Long before HubPages was a spot on my personal roadmap, she believed in me as a writer. She is the one who prodded me in this direction and she is the one who supported me when no one else had even heard of me. I will remain grateful to her for the rest of my life.

Now, on to the thank you messages for this week!

SUE, THIS ONE IS SO TARDY AND I APOLOGIZE!

Sueswan is her Hub name and she has been a Hubber for fifteen months and a follower of mine for six months and somehow I forgot her in the first fifteen installments of this series. Sheez Louise, what’s the matter with me?

Here is how cool Sue is: she has supported me for six months and I somehow forgot to mention her in this series. Still, every time I post one of these, she is right there telling me how wonderful it is that I thank followers. Talk about leave a guy speechless! She is special! Follow her and find out for yourself.

PATTY MY DEAR FRIEND

A member of HubPages for four weeks now, but in that time she has become a good friend and loyal follower. I helped her out early and she has paid me back by faithfully reading and commenting on every hub I write. That is a gift that keeps on giving!

You can find Patty Kenyon at http://pattykenyon.hubpages.com/hub/Video-Games-Not-Just-About-Having-Fun-Benefits-of-Playing. She is all over the board with her writing but each and every Hub is written well. I can tell you this for sure: she is light years ahead of where I was after four weeks….oh, and she has a great sense of humor as well.

WHERE THE HECK IS WHIDBEY ISLAND?

Speaking of people with a great sense of humor, our next guest hails from Whidbey Island, Washington, and she would be the life of any party she attended. What a wonderful sense of humor this lady has!

You can visit Candie V at http://candiev.hubpages.com/. The first sentence in her profile says that she is a mom and darn proud of it. I think that tells you quite a lot about Candie! I would like her just because she lives in my home state, but then get to know her and you find out that she is likeable because she is a quality human being. Hurry up and get over to her site….what are you waiting for?

LaTHING IS DA BOMB!

I know, it’s corny, but oh well!

I just like this lady! She is sincere in her comments and highly intelligent. She hails from a family of politicians but does not write about politics. She does, however, write about inspiration as you can see from this hub http://lathing.hubpages.com/hub/What-Inspires-You-Inspirations.

I know for a fact that her following me serves as inspiration for me to be a better writer. When someone like this praises you, you find yourself wanting to live up to the praise. That’s how much I respect this fine writer!

MHATTER MAKES ME LAUGH AND SO MUCH MORE

A writer of limericks….a writer of poetry….a very funny man and a man of great depth. I’ll tell you something else he is….incredibly faithful! He never missed one of my hubs and never fails to comment on each one. Now I know he must be busy and I know he must have other important things to do, but there he is, every single day, taking the time to comment. I respect that and I am greatly appreciative.

If you like funny limericks (are there serious limericks?) then check out any of his; this is one of my favorites http://mhatter99.hubpages.com/hub/He_Works_In_Strange_Ways but then I was raised Catholic so that figures!

YOUNG BUT OH SO INTELLIGENT AND TALENTED

The last Hubber I want to spotlight today is Keith. From the first day he burst onto the Hub scene three months ago I have been impressed with him. First of all, he is an excellent writer, concentrating mainly on SciFi and Fantasy. In fact, if you want some tips in that genre then check out this hub for some handy suggestions. http://kdubarry03.hubpages.com/hub/SciFi_Fantasy_Writing_Rules.

If you follow Keith, and I hope you do, you will find someone quite young but very advanced for his age. The other thing I’m impressed with is the quality of his personality and the fact that he gives back to this community as much if not more than he takes from the community. He really does deserve your following.

UNTIL INSTALLMENT SEVENTEEN, GOODBYE!

I am one of the lucky ones here on HubPages! I was given a gift seven months ago and it is a gift that keeps on giving each and every day. In response, I would say to all of you to remember the newcomers. Encouragement early on means a great deal to someone just starting out, and I would hate to see a newbie give it up because he/she did not receive any of that encouragement.

Seven months ago I received that encouragement and it made the difference between me giving up HubPages and continuing.

Before I forget….the first comment I ever received….was from a young lady who is known on HubPages as kingmaxler….http://kingmaxler.hubpages.com/….she just happens to be Bev and I love her completely.
