My April 2012 Earnings from HubPages

Last month, I wrote a hub about getting my first payment from HubPages. I reached the minimum amount early in the month because of my past earnings. I promised I was going to share my monthly earnings, so here it is!

Below you will see a table that shows the amounts I earned just from the HubPages Ad Program. I had Amazon modules on most of my hubs. I didn't add eBay capsules until mid April. The beginning of the month I decided to read many hubs on increasing hubs and running experiments on the advice I found. I love to examine stats, so I tried to keep careful calculations. Remember, I am a mom to 7 kids. There are times I forget or simply don't have the time to jot down stats. I do the best that I can. The following is a guide to what I did every week and how it effected my hubs.

The first week of April

Being curious about how much others were earning and how they were doing it, I started reading hubs. I left comments on those that had great content like alocsin and kidgas. I followed hubbers that were serious about delivering quality content and great stats. Did I mention I love stats? What happened? I started gaining followers. I was pretty amazed! That led to comments, more traffic and increased earnings. Things were getting interesting..

The second week of April

All of my hubs were written in 2009 and 2010. They had to be updated with new things that I learned. I started updating them, rearranging the layouts and adding/subtracting links. I added ebay capsules to the appropriate lenses. I got another boost of traffic and even more followers. My earnings were going up! The logical next step was to write more hubs. I wrote two hubs and got 400 views in a few hours.

The third week of April

I added another two hubs. I also made my first two eBay sales. I started earning daily from eBay clicks which is an added bonus. My traffic was steady and so were my earnings. My follower count continued to grow. I was learning a lot from some great hubbers.

The last week of April

This last week I added 7 more hubs. My earnings surpassed the amount I had calculated. As an experiment, I shut off my hubpages ad program for about 12 hours. I didn't earn anything from adsense, but still earned some change from the ad program.

Stats Before and After Experiment

I wanted to share my stats at the beginning of the month before I started updating, backlinking and adding new hubs. You can really see a difference in views and traffic.

My Strategy

From experience I know that product hubs can be very profitable. Unfortunately, they take time to rank on Google thanks to the infamous Google Dance. On the other hand, informational hubs bring instant gratification in the form of impressions that translate to HubPages Ad Program earnings. With that in mind, I wrote 3 product hubs and 8 informational hubs. The product hubs are doing well. They got Google search engine traffic within days, however their serps go up and down daily. No sales to report, yet! :)
