Tips To Get More Views and Increase Your Status at HP

Updated on September 18, 2012

These tips might apply to many of our new Hubbers that are willing to catch up with Senior writers who never thought of writing this hub. Or maybe some did but on a different approach to the matter. We wrote it as a courtesy and with a' lending hand' spirit. There is nothing wrong in sharing some tips as many did before with us. We were taught and we want to give back as well. Hopefully this hub will reach to that 'newbie.' who might've been asking some questions and never found them.

Our twitter Account

Straight to the matter...

Follow as many as you can. Be selective, start with your colleagues and then broaden your search. You can look for writers and artists. If you are into poetry, you can follow Maya Angelou's followers or so. If you love music, follow the industry and get involved.

  • Tip: retweet (RT) important tweets from people you think might follow you back with a thank you note. You will increase your followers by the day. Learn about tagging your postings and drop just to send #FF, or a shout out to your new 'cyber buddies.'

When Commenting On a Hub

Whenever you are responding or commenting, try to go above those 'two paragraphs' commenting. An internal crawler will detect the quality of your comments and will penalize you with some points.

  • Tip: Have a site like with synonyms and antonyms handy for words that you don't want to use over an over. If you jot down a technical word, your score will stay constant; remember the rich content flag that they told you about?

When responding to a hubber friend

Be appreciative and pay back a visit to them. Even though is organic, sharing is vital for traffic. Think of working bees moving around. One bee wouldn't be able to finish the daily task.

  • Tip: retweet (RT), and share at least five hubs from your fellow writer. The momentum of sharing will pay off in the long run

When you have more time in one day...

Line up your backlinking sites and get ready to share your hubs with the world. We need to do this to make up for the SEO that some of our hubs lack. Unless you are SEO literate, you can leave this task to the average Hubber

  • Tip: Be ready to use your skills of copying and pasting. Time can be consumming if you just type word by word. You signed in to this Site with some background or self taught writing (hubbing)

Backlinking from Blogspot

By now you have a blogger account, and have made some improvements. Make sure to learn how to use the basics of HTML. Is part of your homework as a future Freelance writer.

Here is a brief explanation, so you can avoid that class(and the fee) just to brag about some programming of html-5 that could've taken you to a local community college just to learn that Spreadsheet, Powerpoint, Photoshop, or HTML.

Keeping "a" and "href" separated is case sensitive. If you don't follow this sintaxis your link won't work.

Your hub's URL is the address of the hub you want to link in the HTML platform. Your readers will be able to read YOUR TITLE only. Just test it and see how easy it can get. Forget about the meaning of </a> or href, this is web designing language and was already set from the beginning of the Internet. Is like Arnold saying, "Hasta la vista...." and you think he already knows Spanish, huh?

Screenshots are needed every now and them as you grow with us. Sometimes you will need a screenshot of a page. We did use them when the Big E attacked our hubs.

On our Laptop we look for the FN function that is at your left hand -- right under your left palm that meets your wrist; if we are not wrong is usually spotted to the right of the control CTRL function key. Then look for the key : [PRTSC-SYSRQ] is usually to the right of the F12 key. Emulating the CTRL +C for 'copying' this time you will press these two keys one after another:

This process will lock the screen in front of you. Open a 'Paint' or 'Photoshop' and paste the captured shot as you normally do on an adobe PDF reader.

A news tabloid of your own?

You can sign in to and create your own tabloid. The process is similar to opening a Word press or Blogger account. The good thing about is its connectivity with Twitter. Tagging is the key. One time we tagged TMZ and an artist appeared in our tabloid and after exchanging some tweets, he eventually gave us an interview. How cool was that?

You left this page learning something. We have had the advantage of knowing html and our math. The rest is up to you. Every day we learn something, and it feels good when you share it. Thanks for reading us!

Lord De Cross - I learned so much from this hub. I am still so new to HP that I know I'm not being as resourceful as I could be. I don't have a blog or a web site and I'm twitter stupid. I have just recently learned to backlink and discovered the "link to this page" feature. There are some really incredible writers here on HP and I have started promoting them at every opportunity. It has paid off in ways I hadn't imagined. I still don't make any money but my views have tripled in the past week. And the comments I'm getting make it all worthwhile. I am learning something new everyday thanks to awesome hubbers like yourself. Thank you for paving the way and making it easier for us. Great hub full of helpful information! Voted up and shared.

Depending on how much you had the blogspot or other account, and has been page ranked well above average. You can get 10-20% of your daily traffic from your blogger account. You should write original articles on your blogger and then be able to rake backlink profiting benefits.

The tips are from us, while checking traffic and not seeing other friends working on a hub like ours. The tabloid is superb. Just work almost by itself. Tagging and a Twitter account are a must though.

Yeah, there is a self inflicfting bot that funnels the quality of commenting along with forum activity. HP wants to know how much you are giving of you besides writing for you. Just simple but put into effect. Thanks!

@Pamela99, scoring the interview was like peeking into the industry of entertainment. We felt like stars ourselves, and that can lead to other interviews when needed. Thanks so much for your support!

@ Ib Radmasters, That was short but powerful. Thanks for your time and effort. Great to meet you!

    @ Peggy W.,

Tammy Swallow, You are such a wonderful supporter and should get an extra accolade... I forgot ablout blonde jokes long time ago. Still wondering where I left my last bear that was supposed to get intervention by this Rabbi friend. Thanks for all what you do for us!

@ Zsobig, You just worry about your writing and its rich content. Glad to see you here. Hope to see you back!

@ Denisemai, you don't have to comment that long (short). Your smile makes up for the rest Lol! You are doing good so far. I loved that hub of your about being shy. Great to see you commenting!

@ Lathing, Technology and high heels go together. You need high technology to drag a hub to the mall. Either or, you ladies need more that balls, or heels to entice your hubby to the next cruising ship. Thanks!

TilsonTitan, You are really a charm! Your words really made our day. Coming from an extraordinary lady from New York. Glad you enjoyed it. We all learn in the long run.

@Janine Huldie, for a newbie liek you, this hub came in handy. I have read some of your hubs, and you are doing pretty much good. Just one extra tip: go above those 550-770 words frame. Google will rank you better. Thanks!

@Glimmer Twin fan, Rome wasn't built in 7 days, or the world was created in 6. All takes time and even we go through an evolutive process as writers. Hang in there and have fun. This thing is addicteve though!

@Cyndi10, Your positive mind will take you above the hill of uncertainty. There is so much to learn that at times we just want to throw this lap top against the wall....but we can't. 700 bucks is 700 DOLLARS!

    Paul Kuehn,

As we told you before. The key is to work on valuable and original information along with rich content. Believe it or not Google penalize spammers and hubs with less than those 700 words or so. unfortunately is all about the money. If they know your hubs are selling their ads, you will be on the top search. Good luck.

Will have to study this some more regarding HTML, etc. I do not have a blogger site unlike (perhaps) many others on this site.

What you said about leaving meaningful comments and the value of sharing is true. For the new hubbers, it takes a while to build up real followers who actually leave comments and/or share. So hang in there and keep writing and interacting with the HP community. It will eventually happen...but not overnight.

Voted up, useful and will share.

When I look at other pages, though, they collect a lot of comments than mine do. I like the HubPage community and support, but I am looking for ways to expand the views outside of HubPages which is harder. My friends and family do what they can, but it is hard.
