Anyone ever had a hubpages earnings balance decrease?
Anyone ever had a hubpages earnings balance decrease? Mine went DOWN today $.02 from yesterday (it was at that amount for 3days), and my traffic is up. Any thoughts on this? I know it isn't a huge difference, but it was still an unexpected thing to see.
Mine has been going down all year and I haven't even made monthly payouts for the past couple of months. I understand that all these problems were caused by the Google Panda and subsequent updates which caused HubPages to bring in new policies and changes in an ongoing effort to get the site back to how it once was.
All the time. The previous answer is all wrong. Earnings changes have nothing to do with Panda, or Google in general. I don't believe there have been any policy changes either.
I lost over a dollar in the last 24h. Pretty sure a decrease happens at least once a month. The earnings on your stat page are ESTIMATES and HubPages states that. None of your earnings are finalized until well after the end of the month.
Just don't worry about it. Especially for 2 cents.
1st Time today, which i find highly suspicious because my traffic has tripled over the course of the Last few days. Unless HP have decided to lower their payment rates which would be a major dissapointment.
Even my earnings went down and it has been stuck at that amount for about 2 days. It went down by 0.30$. Anyone know why this is happening?
My earnings randomly increase and decrease all the time for the HubPages Ad Program. When you see an amount with the asterisk beside it, it means it is an estimate. It can change at any time until the earnings are finalized. It happens all the time to me, sometimes even as much as a $1.
If you are asking why the earnings change so much from day to day, it is because the value of the ads change on a regular basis. The same goes for Google Adsense. Since we have little control over the value of the ads, you can have a great day with plenty of traffic, yet not make as much as you did on a day with little traffic.
My traffic has triple but my earnings have been reduced significantly. If we were talking pennies/cents I wouldn't mind but for me we're talking quite a few dollars and if they remain this low after estimation is over then I won't be very impressed.
Thanks everyone, that clears it up a bit in terms of the fluctuation in reported earnings
Sure. Earnings fluctuate all the time.
And lately, they are down--September was my best month ever, but October was down quite a bit, and November is not looking very good. I suspect that the biggest factor is my content--my two best Hubs are somewhat seasonal, and are declining in views with the cold season upon us in the Northern Hemisphere, where the biggest proportion of our readership still is.
(This comment has to do with earnings, not strictly balances. But the discussion so far seems to confuse these two things. For balances, I'd agree with what mattforte said, more or less.)
Since we've had a lot of pending earnings lately, I am not sure whether you are talking about the amount being less than estimated, or about actual earnings going down. Decreases in both are normal.
The estimate, is just that, an estimate, and it can go up or down once it is finalized, although it does normally go up. I have seen it go down a couple of times though.
The earnings go up and down dramatically from time to time. This is due to a lot of factors. Sometimes it is a holiday (like Thanksgiving) that will keep people away from their computers. Traffic usually goes down over the weekend as well. Traffic fluctuates when Google does an update of their algorithm. And then there is a seasonal fluctuation that is based on the types of hubs you write - if you have a popular hub that people read during a particular time of the year (like about a holiday or gardening), then traffic will die down during other times of the year.
Often when your traffic is up, the earnings per impression will go down. This is based on the fact that fewer people are clicking on your ads (maybe they are other Hubbers who rarely click on ads).
To me, it is like the stock market. It will go up and down, sometimes dramatically, and you can just hope that there is an upward trend.
I don't think this quite explains what's happening today. I have never seen the (estimated) earnings like this before. I have earned 50% of what I was earning before my traffic tripled. If this is the case then we are all inevitably doomed.
I'm not panicking yet. I've seen estimated earnings of zero, which then turned out to be in the normal range once everything was processed. I'm still not even seeing estimated earnings for Monday, so clearly processing is still way behind.
My comment did seem extreme, but only cos I didn't have room to fit much in lol. When I saw how much traffic I was receiving I got quite buzzed about it, I guess we should leave it a few more days to see what happens.

I am writing articles for this website since past 3 months. At present, I have 38 featured and published hubs. I have joined for Amazon and google Adsense program. Past two months I earned like very less amount, less than 1/2 dollar. If I continue writing and publishing at the rate of one article...

I know there have been a lot of changes in the air in the past 10 or so days... There was another big Panda update... then the stinkin' Penguin and all. And, HP has been tinkering around with the design of pages. My traffic has remained relatively constant through it all. But, over...

On browsing the forum, I have become aware that we can't earn on HubPages without AdSense. This is a grim realization for me.I have 29 featured hubs that are generally considered to be of reasonable quality. I applied for an AdSense account over a year ago, and since then I've had nothing. When I...

Last week, I received an email from Google AdSense advising me that my payments were on hold due to missing tax information. The email is definitely from Google and not phishing.I have never seen an email like this from them previously, and all my payments come from HubPages to PayPal. There is a...

Hello,One of my hubs is making about $0.40-$0.60 per day, but I've noticed that my traffic is actually lower on the higher paying days in some cases, and vice versa. I am curious as to which factors go into calculating the amount of money you make on each hub per day. Any insight would...

My CTR is sharply down for April. I've only had 2 clicks on over 800 views. Worse still these are both referral Hubs rather than my own and were only worth a few cents.Up to now my CTR has been around 2%. Is this just me or are others seeing a drop in earnings? The trouble...
