Some Questions about the apprenticeship program

About how many hours a day/week does this involve?
For the articles do you decide what to write about or does Hub Pages use a list to pick from?
Do you have to create videos for the hubs?

You either use exclusive hub titles or you can come up with your own to submit for approval.  You must publish a minimum of 8 quality hubs per month and a max of 15.  I don't know that you have to "create" a video, but finding videos that tie into hubs can be a nice touch.  So far, I have not used video in any of my hubs, but I plan to experiment with it in the future.  No one can tell you how many hours it will take because it depends on how fast/well you write, your subject matter, how much you need to research etc.  If you focus on a niche you are knowledgeable about, I would think it wouldn't take that long.

Personally made videos are highly suggested, but not mandatory. That was a concern of mine because I had satellite internet.

Thank you.  I still have yet to hear if I am accepted.  But it is something to prepare myself for.   Do the hubs all have to be related to each other?  For example, if I write a hub on cooking, would all the hubs have to relate to cooking?

not necessarily, but having a niche is a great way to establish yourself as an expert in a particular area.  I have 2-3 broad areas I stick with natural health and wellness, metaphysical and freelancing.

My main niche-the reason why I joined HP-Bible Study.  But I have worked for over 20 years in manufacturing and I write business related articles as well.  some minor niches are home remedies, sports and crafts.

ChristinS is correct that your hours will vary and about the Hub titles. You have to produce at least eight Hubs in 30 days. Some of mine were fast writes and some took days. It just depends on the amount of research you have to do and how quickly you write. I did use one self-made video in a product review.

Thank you.  When I wrote for a different site, I found myself spending 1-4 hours on an article.  And it really depended on how much I knew about the topic and how many words it was.  Is there a minimum word limit for the hubs?

You have to write at least 500 words for the AP, but most research shows that, for an article to be successful with Google, they need to be substantially longer.

Thank you.  Most of my hubs are between 500-1500.  I find when I work on a hub for a few days-rather than trying to cram it in a day-they tend to be longer

I have done a lot of historical Hubs and they always end up long. The research for them also takes forever!

I remember on time I had to do a paper on Sherman's Campaign.  That was pages long!  Wish I still had that.
