   Do you give other hubs a "thumbs down" vote?
   
   I've never voted a "thumbs down" on any hub, regardless of errors or the tone and nature of an article. If a hub is filled with errors or it is politically charged and I disagree, I may respond, but I do not vote it down. Am I shirking my responsibilities to HP? I know this may sound naive, but I seriously don't know the answer.

   A hub is someone's point of view and we must respect others views. I may suggest to upgrade it but will never give a thumbs down vote. This is derogatory and antihuman according to you.

      I certainly understand your point. Many that write here have English as a second language and we need to have patience with all people who wish to express their thoughts.

   The thumbs down I think are more for instances where there is abuse, non-factual information or outright lies that could harm someone (not opinions, but misstated or misrepresented facts) and SPAM.  I do thumbs down those types of hubs and report them - but not ones I simply disagree with.  We are all entitled to opinions of course.

   VERY RARELY do I give a thumbs down vote and it's always for the same reason - because the hub is absolute Gibberish with such bad grammar and spelling that you can't make sense of any of it. The thumbs up/thumbs down buttons are quality control - not really to vote down people you disagree with but to show hubs as either high quality or low quality. At least that's what I took out of it. I have voted up hubs I thoroughly disagree with if I think their point is well written and it was an interesting read. That's just how it goes.

   No, and I don't thumb up either.  Neither action seems to have any effect on the hub and the number of up/down votes is invisible everyone including the author.  To be honest, I'm not sure HP even stores the votes in their database, they could be empty buttons for all anyone knows. There's always the option of flagging.

   I have given a thumbs down to a hub which was extremely mean-spirited. There is no reason to belittle others who have different opinions.
   I'm not sure what a thumbs down does, but it made me feel better.

   if the information is incorrect I always give a thumbs down.   I do not care about the grammer etc if the information is correct.    If it is gibberish and I cannot understand it i usually ask-- what the heck are you trying to say here.

   I never give anyone a thumbs down, why would I want to down rate a person just because I do not agree with them or could not understand them. Its like those people who go to a cinema and if they do not enjoy the movie start booing, thereby spoiling the movie for everyone, I prefer to just walk out if I do not enjoy the movie.
   I do give a thumb up if I read a good hub.
   
   If I thought a hub was breaking TOS then I would just flag that hub.

   In two years I have never given a thumbs down.  I, fortunately, have never come across a hub that would warrant it.  If I find a hub that has errors beyond belief, I will try to email that person and point out the errors.  If they are minor I may mention them in the comments section.  I just feel we are all in this boat together and if we start handing out thumbs down we may start to sink.

    I have never given a ''thumbs down'' or 'flagged'' anyone. Everyone is entitled to express their own views. We may disagree with someone, but that doesn't mean we should vote them down.

    I agree. I may regret opening an article, but that's never reason to vote it down. In fact the responders I disagree with here in regard to giving a thumbs down, did not get a thumbs down.
    
    I did give a thumbs up to those I do agree with.

    Nope, I have never gave a thumbs down. I have voiced a different opinion than the writer but I haven't viewed any that would make me do such a rude thing.

    Hey there, pv-I have rarely voted up or down.  But if a hub is chock full of spelling or content errors, or is, in my opinion, 'ignorant', I will vote it down.  HubPages is-hopefully-striving for quality writing-so I do try to voice my literary opinion by doing so.

    When I'm hub hopping (which I do regularly), I think it's my responsibility as a member of the HubPages community  to assist with quality control. If I come across a hub that looks like it's spun, has horrible spelling and/or grammatical errors or obviously meets other criteria for flagging, then I flag it and/or vote thumbs down.
    
    I never vote thumbs down because I disagree with the author or don't like his/her subject matter. If I come upon a hub that just does not interest me, I will hop on to the next one without commenting or voting.

    I vote down on the basis of grammar usually not subject matter. Grammar is imperative to me in maintaining quality on hubpages. That being said I don't do it that often.
    I do flag hubs I think may be from bots, companies, or of other malicious origins but not from real people.

    I have and it is usually on Hub Hopper and the reason is that the Hub is little more than a commercial for some product or service.
    
    I do not give a thumbs down if you disagree with me. However, if the discussion turns into a series of insults from the other person, I will give a thumbs down and tell the person that the discussion is over.
    
    If I see a hub that has an incorrect fact or an incomplete explanation, I will offer that explanation and hope they take it in the spirit it was offered. Once a fellow Hubber and I went back and forth several times during the day because of a Hub she wrote, which I thought did not show anything about the other side. She said she could not find anything. I found it on the Internet in about five minutes and sent the links to her. She thanked me. She saw that they way you phrase your search can affect the results. She included the material I sent and seven altered the titled from one that was totally negative about the issue to one that indicated there may be questions about the issue. I thnaked up and gave her a thumbs up.

    Yes, I read and gave thumb up, Normally those who stay at hubapges I think have talent and good writing, So I always try to help other hubbers by giving  thumb up, but in response I did not get any.
