How long does it take for search traffic to increase?

If you're a beginner does it take months before Google picks up on your hubs in the search engine.

Thanks for that. I've been here about four months and get a few visits per day  but want to see more.

It depends on how many people are searching for things that could be found in your hubs.

For example after 1-2 days, my hub's title is on the first page of Google, but sadly these terms are not wery searched by people, and that means no traffic.

Also you could have terms that are searched, but also there are a lot of good articles on the web, and you can't beat them, only with a lot of backlinks.

SEO is key and it's something I'm working on. I do think as you keep writing well written content that eventually your overall traffic will rise but it might take several months.

Chris, I remember those "newbie" days well.  I recall that within a couple of days, Google picked up my hubs if they were "featured hubs" (hubs scoring 70 or higher).  Let me add that it is also important to write about things people are looking to read and to use keywording appropriately within the title and the text of your hub.  Keep in mind that there is significant competition for SEO.  Companies and individuals can pay for placement in a Google search (i.e. the first three hits on the list).  Always check several pages of the search.  Your hub may not be on the first page but may be on page 3.  The more accurate the keyword search is the greater the likelihood that your hub will appear in the result.

    For example:
    1.  If you keyword search "chriswillman90 hubpages."  You appear on the first page of the search.  Your hub "Causes of Sudden Depression In Healthy People" is listed as 5th.

    2.  If you keyword search the title of this hub,"Causes of Sudden Depression in Healthy People" is listed 2nd on the first search page.

    3. But if you keyword "Depression in Healthy People," then you're hub is not listed until page 3 of the search.  You are competing with major scholarship on the issue of "depression."

Hope this helps answer your question.  Happy Hubbing!

Yikes...I have a typo in this answer!  So sorry about that!  "you're" should be "your" in example 3.

Great advice to follow. It's a very competitive market out there for sure, but with the correct info you'll be a step above them. Lol don't worry about the typo.
