Anyone's traffic dropped even more after this new change of "featured" hub change?   Mine has dropped by 70% and seems to be falling fast.

What are the hubbers (who have been here for at least a year) experiencing now?  What are your plans if your traffic is falling?

Ideas for change would be great!!

I don't think the "featured" hub thing has effected mine at all, but it has dropped a bit in the last week.

Yeah! My traffic and earnings have dropped. I was hoping to actually see it start to rise now we are on the run-up to Xmas

      Hi Jenubouka,
I was just reading that  a way to increase traffic again, would be to write some short articles on GoArticles.com and EzineArticles, and then link them back to your HP articles. It seems that Ezines has an amazing high ranking on Google and it seems that it ranks much higher than HP,
This is at least what I read on a number of sites.
Has anyone here done that? Or know this to be correct?
But you can always try, it could be worth it
      A

Thanks so much! I really appreciate the information, might give that a try.  Can't hurt, or can it? smile

I've been here for a little over a year now and didn't really see slumps in traffic until a couple of weeks ago. And, then last week I was a bit jolted to see my traffic go down the way that it did. I can't imagine that HubPages is deliberately sabotaging us. I believe HubPages is doing all they can to help us, so I'm going to stick it out a little while longer - at least until the end of the year. I can't imagine things would be any better anywhere else.

I think low traffic is a global issue. As I listen to writer friends who write for other platforms I hear the same complaint about low traffic, so I don't thiink things will be better somewhere else. I'm staying put for now and hope things get better for all of us.

Yes, mine has dropped by about 100 views a day and I didn't get a lot of people visiting anyway.  I had two or three hubs which always got about 30 views each a day, in the last 24 hours they had none!  Very strange indeed.  I am hoping things pick up again and it is a temporary blip. It must be awful if people are relying on this for decent income.

One hub was receiving over 1000 hits a day; now it gets barely 300 if that.  I can't help think that with all the new changes lately that there lies some reasoning there for it.

I am wondering what hubbers who have been writing here for over a year think and what they plan to do. I have already removed many hubs, now what????

I am experiencing the same thing. The traffic across my whole sub-domain has fallen sharply. The hubs that were getting 500 - 1k views a day have lost over 70% of their traffic.
The really bad thing is I can't even see what those hubs were ranking for to check if it's a difference in the rankings that has affected them or if it's something else. HP has removed the ranking keywords in the stats section. I know you can do it on analytics but it's way more time consuming and it's far more difficult to seperate out the keywords per hub... Seems weird that HP would remove one of the most helpful stats/tools...
TBH I'm as stumped as you Jenobouka. I plan to take the general advice given across the site for some time of not putting all your eggs in one basket. I have started to write on a few other writing platforms. I will see which writing platform performs best and put the majority of my new articles there.
I've tried almost everything else and nothing seems to be working...

There was a Panda update on 5 November - could be that.

At the start of the changes my hubs did experience a temporary drop, and then I had some trouble with people copying some of my hubs which saw it fall again! However now things have settled down and I sent out some complaints, my views have bounced right back. smile I'm hoping now that they stay that way and begin to increase again.

I am sorry to hear of these drops in traffic; my traffic has continued to increase gradually and more so this week.

What is this change you are talking about as my traffic has decreased sharply and was wondering what was going on . . . ?

Pretty much for the last three months or so HP has been doing some changes with the idle hubs, hub hopper, and now the "featured hub" thing to which if you are "featured" then ads will be on your hubs, if not then no ads, no index, (as I understand it.)  If you check out their blog, you can see these "updates."

thanks I pretty much knew that however it doesn't explain the severe drop in page views . . . why is that happening?

Not a clue, thus the thread. Perhaps someone who has been on HP for over a year can explain this.  I really can't grasp this sudden and drastic drop.  Panda update or no Panda update.

Gotcha and it doesn't look like anyone else knows either, I searched the FAQ and Help Page but as usually HP isn't forth coming.

It seems odd that they would hamper our ability to get page views after all if we make money they make money but it has been such a significant drop that I'm seriously considering going elsewhere.

Even starting from scratch would be about the same so why bother jumping through their hoops when I could create my own blog at this point.

I saw quite a dip on election day, but it rose some Wed. and Thurs.  Now I'm into my normal weekend slump again, so can't really know if it has continued to rise, fall or whatever.  A rough guess is that by Monday I'll be back to normal, judging by what I'm seeing today.

My traffic continues to muddle along... I am more happy than sad. For reasons not worth elaborating, I think the rest of 2012 will be good news, but come 2013, it all goes to hell. This is in reference to me and is not a prognostication in general.
