I have family there! But it's not the weather that's the worst part, it's that the people actually elected Franken to the senate!!! What were they thinking????

I live across the border from MN, lol...I love the winters and I use to live in Toronto .. but I absolutely love the solitude here smile my sons get frustrated though ... suppose there's only so many times one can go fishing, hunting, canoeing, swimming, snowshoeing, skating, etc...lol..don't you have relatives in the city that you can go visit? I have sent my 2 sons off to Toronto to visit their older brother and sister and grandparents, a few times over the last few years. Other teens have gone to live with uncles and aunts in the city. Just offering an idea to think about. smile

LOL thats exactly why I moved out of MN.  I used to live in Duluth and the weather is absolutely horrible.  Its always fun trying to go to work in the morning and your car door is frozen shut :S

Hey I dint realize how diverse the locations of hubbers were!
That's pretty cool, Ive always wanted to visit Canada! One of my favorite music artists is from Napanee Ontario!

    -Avril Lavigne!

Duluth isnt bad, but one time for spring break my family went up to Duluth, I came outside to see the barges come in and I could see snowflakes touching me nose! Im not one to really fuss about the cold but anything below Zero is not cool with me! Anway My birthday is on April 22nd and you just never know what the weather is like. Many times I have recieved snow!

I lived in Williamsburg, Virginia (also known as Tidewater ... or the peninsula) from 2001-2007 ... and loved it! The weather was mild. Flowers bloomed in very early spring ... and the last winter there it snowed twice ... the first time it melted with a few hours and the second time it melted within a few days.

Now I live in Indianapolis, Indiana. Last night the temperature dropped well below zero. There's an inch or so of snow on the ground. Not enough for great photographgy, or really cool snowmen ... but I imagine there will be more before long.

Yep, Minnesota is pretty much the icebox of the world.  I lived near Duluth for two years, and the one thing that I honestly miss about winter is the wood stove where we burned all the firewood we cut.  There's nothing like being indoors next to a wood stove while a blizzard's raging outside.  I'm in San Diego right now and it's almost 90 degrees out.  90 degrees in winter is just boring.  I guess I'll have to go to the beach smile

thanks indy cindy! Thats pretty cool, I guess what state I want to live in now!

Benijmester, it sounds pretty fun to have 90 degree weather,
I guess I dont know if I woul;d really like it though. I have a lot of skin problems from teh sun, maybe that type of weather isnt good for me?!

Yeah, I just moved to MN 9 days ago, and so far, I'm HATING it!  The weather sucks, I'm having trouble finding a job, I'm sick of having to tell the passengers of my car, "oh, just so you know, because they have no idea what a snow plow or a salt truck is, we might not stop at this stop sign, and we might just spin out and hit that light pole."  Besides which, the people are straight callous and rude!  My car spent the last 24 hours stalling out on me, and me having to push the damned thing and I want you to know only two people stopped to help and they were at the same location!  I'm built pretty much for manual labor but damn I'm only one person, I only weigh 160, come on now, how am I supposed to push a car by my self?  People bump into you in the Mall of America, and you say, "excuse me" like a polite little girl and they look at you like you're crazy and don't say a thing!   I can't wait to move again.

lolz you're like the fifth person to say "Minnesota Nice" and I have no idea wtf that is!  Everybody's like "Minnesota Nice does exist just not in that person."  What am I missing?

Minnesota Nice means that people can be really nice, but theres a catch. When you are crazy enough to live in MN, you have a few things to learn, MNians seem to get bithchie in the cold because it gets so cold and it lasts for so long some years. Next we tend to keep to our selves and mind our own business. Sometimes tourists or visitors take it personal, its nothing bad or anything. Minnesotan's tend to forget sometimes that we can give off an odd vibe to people that arent from around here. I know its a lot to take in. I never really have gotten used to the weather. I personally have to say that every year is different and Mother Nature plays tricks on us to keep us alive.

    Hang in there Rainbow Bite.
here are a few things to do in MN,
go to Duluth when it is warm! Its beautiful in the summer.
    go to a Twins game
Go to the Ice Palace thats really cool to see,
go to the MN Zoo in Apple Valley!

There are a bunch of things to do! There a bunch of things that are here to do!
Just look around there are things for every interest!

    sassychicposted 16 years ago

the Ice palace it made out of complete ICE! And its pretty cool! They have all sorts of rooms and sculptures and things! The sometimes have live bands and such. I havent gone in a while but its fun! Go soon while the weather is above 15 degrees! Cuz its the shits when it's colder than that! Anyway hope that helps and good luck with stuff.

Let me know if you want me to translate anything else about MN.! smile
