14 hours is a long time to wait for an update.

How often do you look at your stats?

Very often when I am monitoring a specific Hub.  Now it's been 16 hours.

There is no need to post to the forums when stats are delayed.
We are aware of the delays and even provide a message to that effect on the stats page.
Here is the message for reference.
"We strive to keep your Hub statistics as up to date as possible and the recency of our statistics are closely monitored. If you notice that your stats haven't been updated in a while, rest assured that we are aware of the issue. You can expect that things will return to normal within a day or so."

Yeah, they used to update when you hit refresh, but that changed a while back. Don't know why.
Also this new look when you reply to someone is a bit ugly.

Based on Quantcast real-time, we may be in for a pleasant surprise when the update occurs.

It tends to do this over the weekend.

It's annoying for me too because I have good reason to be closely following my stats right now.

Hook your account up to Analytics and you'll get real-time stats with more detail than you get here.

I know, but those stats are never the same as HP's numbers and it's HP's numbers that the Ad Program is based upon.  My analytics always shows much higher visitor numbers than HP.

They break each weekend practically, and HP offers no reason as to why they break.

I don't want to be referred to Google Analytics, mostly because they don't break it down as easily as HP does.

They need to either fix the statistics, or remove them.  Instead of just ignoring the issue week after week... after week.

Maybe Matt has to pedal a bicycle to keep the stats machine going and they give him the weekends off. He needs a break too!

Maybe because they have minimal staff on the weekend. Did you ever see how few they have working compared to how many Hubs there are?

What works for me is analytics. As most of the more savvy members have already pointed out, this is the definitive resource.

The on-site stats are nice for casual users. I imagine elderly ladies from the places like Little Rock and Bournemouth also appreciate their simplicity.

        1. Cardisa profile image96
Cardisaposted 11 years agoin reply to this

Yeah, but Analytics isn't the one paying the pennies. The one responsible for the money should be responsible for letting you see your stats. I like to keep track of my views vs my payments. Somehow that works better for e than Analytics alone.

I think is very irresponsible that we lost a full day of not knowing where our stats were. How does HP calculate yesterday's earnings with the stats being updated? How do I know that my earnings are accurate?

          1. profile image0
Will Apseposted 11 years agoin reply to this

Okay, a little tip. Take off the 40 per cent due to HP and you have your views. You can look at each page if you wish.

Frankly, I would get used to analytics and forget the stats here.

            1. Writer Fox profile image45
Writer Foxposted 11 years agoin reply to this

Since you've obviously forgotten about the Stats page here, you've also forgotten that there's more on that page than just number of visits.  You really should get used to checking it out.

  17. brianlokker profile image69
    brianlokkerposted 11 years ago

I may be wrong about this, but I don't think that Google Analytics will show stats for Editor's Choice hubs. I have my GA account set up using my profile page as the default URL, and the URLs for Editor's Choice hubs hubs are not based on the profile. So, assuming that's the case, the GA stats won't be complete. Unless there's another way to set up GA for a HubPages account?

    1. Writer Fox profile image45
Writer Foxposted 11 years agoin reply to this

You're not wrong.  Google analytics will only track URLs on your subdomain.  Although EC Hubs show on your Profile page, the URLs for them are not on your subdomain.

      1. profile image0
Will Apseposted 11 years agoin reply to this

How on earth would you know? You have no EC hubs.

Fine declaration, though. With no evidence, you can boldly say. 'You're not wrong.  Google analytics will only track URLs on your subdomain.'

And off target as usual. I have plenty of EC hubs and all are tracked in analytics.

        1. Writer Fox profile image45
Writer Foxposted 11 years agoin reply to this

Yes, I opted out of EC.  But, according to five previous forum threads, it's not working out the way you describe for everyone.

          1. profile image0
Will Apseposted 11 years agoin reply to this

Well I ain't doin' screen shots for the hard of understanding. Besides who are these people who say that analytics excludes EC hubs?

Apart from brianlokker (who is sensibly tentative) who are you relying on?

Sounds like the usual smokescreen to cover the embarrassment of being an expert who never quite gets it right.

Also, of course, to imagine that knowing the traffic for a day can tell you how much you have earned is silly. CPM's vary from day to day, sometimes sharply.

    2. brianlokker profile image69
brianlokkerposted 11 years agoin reply to this

OK, so after checking it out a little more, I see that I was wrong about the EC hubs. HubPages includes GA tracking code for both your subdomain and the primary domain, so the EC hubs are being tracked in your GA account.

But I still agree with the main point of this thread that the HP stats should update more frequently and consistently.

I finally worked up the energy to visit Analytics. Where in the H*ll is the G*d D*mn content gone!?! As in the usual list of individual hubs and associated traffic for each?

5:17 AM here and on second cup of coffee. So the problem may be me... big_smile

    1. paradigmsearch profile image59
paradigmsearchposted 11 years agoin reply to this

      Update

      Finally found it.

The list is stashed 4 levels down at: Acquisition > Keywords > Organic > Landing Page. And even that doesn't provide the true list of totals most of us are looking for.

Google, sometimes you are a real pain in the... Please put the individual content/traffic back in the top-level menu selection.

Rant concluded. Third cup of coffee in progress.

You want 'behavior', 'site content' and 'all pages' to see stats for individual pages.

        1. paradigmsearch profile image59
paradigmsearchposted 11 years agoin reply to this

Thanks. "Behavior" is there. But for me, "Site Content" and "All Pages" is nowhere to be found. Great, Google is apparently giving different people different versions of Analytics. Wouldn't be the first time. Oh, well...

Thanks again, at least we tried. Hopefully it will be straightened out if/when there is a time I really need the data for some reason.

          1. profile image0
Will Apseposted 11 years agoin reply to this

I just looked again. There are, in fact, 2 instances of 'behavior' in the left hand nav bar thingy.

And you need the second one. It is sort of a main sub. Not the one under acquisition (whatever that is about).

Actually, I think that you are right. It is ridiculously complicated. I get there like a homing pigeon by not thinking about it too much.
