Hello folks
I only produced a couple of Hubs the other day, and I've been delighted by the friendly feedback.
I've discovered that my profile score is 81. What does this mean? Is it good?
I know I should probably search the faqs to find out, but this is a much more sociable way of asking.
Thanks in advance - Paul
Hi,
The hubscore ranges from 0-100 with 100 being the best. 81 is a very respectable score, as even some well respected and prominent hubbers are still only in the 80s.
Hope this helps!
Bristolboy
Your hubscore is worked out by some magical trick. It relates to your hub scores and your traffic, participation in the site. 81 after 2 weeks and 2 hubs is a great start and you'll keep going up!
It's good for a quick guide to the hubber, but it's not worth focusing on it. Just write good unique content and get to know some people.
Comment on others peoples hubs too, because that can help get comments on your hubs. And fan people, because most will fan back, and fans are worth having!
Andre
Ah ha! Now I has a name to go with your fa..Avatar! oh, artful one! @"Andre"..
I din't' think I would care what my score was, but now I use it to gauge my participation. That is my personal thing, but i am a bit off kilter...In fact do not heed a thing I just wrote.
I know it's crazy right? Proof that the scoring process here is worthless!
I swear every time I log on, I got a phone call and got to go back to work. I think of the scores as nothing much myself, its "true" fans that count
True! I have two haters now! I like those even more! They are fun to bat around like a cat does to a dying mouse!
I enjoy the fans that realize their mistake after joining my fan club and then take it back
How could anyone hate you, Pest?? Just don't get it...you either, GT! I love you both!!
Back off Toad, i saw her first!
"you are gross" was posted along with another here>> http://hubpages.com/hub/Masturbation--One-Mans-History Silly gooses!
I think both Pest and I offend in different ways, we seem to have a knack for that, I have gotten some great e-mails in the past from "unknown" people but it only amuses me. I have noticed my fan count fluctuate and I will admit booting out a couple who became my fan who were mad fanners
Who wouldn't like you??? that would certainly be silly.
Having began this thread, I'm pleased with all the animated responses, although some appear to have gone off on a tangent.
I note that everyone who replied has a score of 90+, and yet you seem to indicate that this should not be taken too seriously.
As I'm a newbie, I don't want to come across as over confident or pompous in any way, because I am just a gentle soul not accustomed to vibrant forum banter.
It's a pleasure to know you all. If my score is 81 after only two hubs in as many days, then I find that extremely encouraging, although I'm not so naïve to assume that this is the norm.
Cheers
Sorry about that...Umm keep plugging away and read all of my hubs, comment to them all, and join my fan club. You can't lose!
Who knows, you however are doing a great job as you have only been here for a short period of time and are at an 81. I have been here 16 months and mine bounces from 97 to 91 , it is odd as I can look at and it is a 97 and then go away and come back 91, but as you can see none of us concern ourselves much, the celebration will be when I hit 100.
You are always a 100 in my book AE! The highest I ever got was a 96..i think. And that was with just plain old hubs, no pictures/links, no nothing...A lot of participation in comments and forums.
Aaawww, thanks Pest and you are a 100 in my book too!!! Forums also count? I didn't know that, my goodness I am always learning something and I have been here 16 months, thanks for sharing that info. By the way have you started on that book? You have stocked up on Petroleum , I heard it is on sale .LOL:D Big Hugs ()
You said it. but ya need to be around when it hits 100 or ya might not even know it. I hit 99 once and five minutes later it was back to 97. LOL
Good point C.C. Maybe there should be a peak score record kept in your account.
It is absolutely nuts isn't it? With my luck I will be working or sleeping. Hey I gotta an idea, if you get to 100 and miss it and I catch I will let you know and vice versa this way we know we made it to the magical number. LOL:)
That's because the people with the high scores are the most active in the community, and we're always adding to the forums as well as other peoples hubs.
A lot of people miss out on the fun and games of the forums, I'm sure you can hazard a guess as to who some of them might be already!
Anyway, keep on publishing and chatting away in the forums, and I'm sure your score will be up in the 90's in no time. Keeping it up there is the important part!
Stop by http://hubpages.com/hub/hubscore and it'll give you the FAQs and facts on HubScore and Author Score (the Hubber Score).
And then check out HubPages vs Squidoo which will bring you up to speed on what's different and what's the same to what you already know.
I am totally new at this, and have been here only a week, so I can't really say. From what I have heard, though, the number seems to be a mystery to even experienced hubbers, and it fluctuates a lot, depending on a lot of factors. My first few days, my score was in the 60's, then it jumped to 80 something, and it floats around here and there. I don't entirely understand it. I know this doesn't help you understand it, either. All I know is the more quality hubs you write, the more you participate by posting in the forums, leaving comments on hubs you read, and joining fan clubs of hubbers you like, the higher your score will be. I don't understand the way it works, or what they use to calculate it, or who keeps track of it all, but that is the best I can do.
I think you should not worry about your score if you are not in the hall of fame of hubpages because in this case your score will keep fluctuating below 95 based on your hubtivity.
But if you decide to go to hall of fame, you will have to do a lot of work.
Golden Toad and I were both hubnugget candidates right after New years, that helped a lot, for me anyway. Can't sspeak for toad though. Just keep writing, you'll get there and who knows maybe you'll climb to the magical 100.
I did that for Teresa the other day but hers lasted for some time.
Some folks seem obsessed with producing Hubs just for Hubs sake...I mean, some folks are putting out a Hub a day...I guess they are in it for the prestige of achieving a 100 score....Hub Pages to me are a community of people, around the world, that express themselves either personally through poetry or prose, or commercially, through how-to's, travel, culture, etc
I could care less what my Hub score is...what I appreciate most is the feedback I receive from my fellow hubbers, and the comments I exchange with them..
The difference Maven is you write for the love, they write for the job/money. If you can make $5 a day from hubpages, it might not sounds like much, but in some parts of the world, that's a lot money to make! Some hubbers publish 3 or 4 a day (or it seems like it anyway!)
Blimey! I never expected such a fantastic response from what I thought was a tentative post.
You people are amazingly on the ball...oops! That's not meant to sound patronising! Sorry!
Anyway, I've really enjoyed the replies!
Cheers mateys!
The more you use Hubpages, the more you'll see how awesome the community is. Not everyone is active, but there are a core group who are awesome!
Don't much know about scores, never much care, either you like me or you don't and I do what I do for me and hope that someone hears what I'm trying to say, and cares. or at least has fun reading what I wrote. I have fun reading you. What else really matters.
I just saw the thread title and thought I don't remember posting that one! lol
the scoring must mean something as someone checking into the general hubs or hubbers page is going to see the hubbers with the highest scores first. (i keep saying hubbers enough and it sounds like babbling)

I'd like to suggest we get rid of Hubber Score - and perhaps even Hub Scores. They:- are constantly misunderstood;- cause a lot of upset and grief in the forums; and- encourage newbie Hubbers to direct their efforts in entirely wrong directionsFor instance, I've known newbie Hubbers stop...

What's your take on jealousy among hubbers on Hubpages?I published a hub a few days ago. The hubscore started at 66 and has been doing great. Two nights ago the hub went to 91. A hubber left a comment on the hub - "How did you get that many followers?". The hubber did not say anything...

I would like to know. I haven't decided which of my available articles here in my files to publish yet I want to gradually increase my Hubber score. Is it possible?

My hub scores range from 65 to 87 as of the last time I looked. My average is 73. To me it seems like I have a "C" average. I'm disappointed and discouraged. I am doing everything that is recommend to get a good score. It is disheartening not to get a feedback. For...

So my author hubscore has been consistantly going down. I am at 93 today which is lower than I have been in many months. Lately I have been addding a lot of hubs, at least one per day over the lat two weeks. However many of them are hubs that promote the selling of...

I just finished my fiftieth hub. Am I on a harder scoring system now? My profile page hubscore dived today from 97 to 92 in two hours.. Have I done something wrong? All I have done since is comment on a couple of pages, so what changed it so drastically. I have seldom been this low.My hubpages on...
