W8848 at HP Stealing Hubs, Can't Flag Them

My hub "How to Make Money Writing Online" is posted at Hub Pages as the original work of some anonymous person called W8848. Here's the link:

    http://hubpages.com/hub/Do-You-Want-to- … t-to-Write

When I try to flag the hub, it just pops me to the bottom on the page and nothing happens.

It seems like every week another one of my hubs is plagiarized and I am having only about 50% success at getting the thieves to even acknowledge they took the stuff. I was having fun here, but lately, not so much. It's lots of things--but if people right HERE are going to do it, seriously, what is the point of putting any effort into this stuff?

Hi Pam - I managed to flag on of their other copy/paste hubs and also mentioned your problem. Hopefully, they will disappear very soon smile

Pam just noticed that your Hub was stolen 9 months ago ( and nobody noticed till now) and looks like all the others were. and he has no recent hubtivity.
      This guy should be dumped!

I could flag it, Pam.  I hope it goes down in a NY minute, even if it'll feel like an eternal NY minute.

I think I reported that spammer last nite when he flooded the forums. I jumped right on it.

Why is there always someone who has to mess up a good thing?  Spammers, viruses, in China they get the death sentence if caught.

That's so creepy, agvulpes!  How come we never noticed!?!  How many other hubs have been snatched? Can you please list them so that we can all go and start a flagging spree?

    Hi guys,

Thanks for flagging that and for being supportive.

I like HP but lately I've been feeling like I'm misusing my energy. What I love most here are the great online friends I've made (aka you guys). What I like least here are the following: 1)the stolen hub nonsense, which gets worse the longer you're here and the better you get--and it's more than just annoying, because if some guy in Kat Mandu steals your content and is web savvy, there goes your Google ranking and your ad revenue, and  2) the hate mail, stalkers, and trolls that you eventually attract if you say anything of substance. I don't mind civilized debate, but I've received the following commentary, "F%$k you you commie bitch," and that was on a non-politcal hub. That just takes the fun out of it for me. I wish there was a 'block' function here sometimes.

So I'm reevaluating my priorities. Probably I'll just lay low for awhile and write an occasional fluff piece that won't bother me if it's ripped off.

That's quite sad as you have quite a presence here.  Maybe you need to write a HATE hub like Cris A?  Seriously, you get hate email and stalkers here?
I must say, I am enjoying Hubpages so much but unfortunately, I am not getting the reading done I need to get done over my holiday break and I really need to finish the children's book I'm halfway through.  Maybe I also need to lie low a bit, huh?

Hi Cindy--I know what you mean, that's what I'm talking about. I get kind of addicted to the instant feedback here and then I neglect bigger projects. I'm supposed to be writing a book too, and I joined Writer's Market thinking I'd work on print publication and haven't done squat with that. smile

      Cindy,
I couldn't agree with you more on your comment, I am getting ready to blast his name all over the internet was here in the last 24 hours 3 times.Several of the fans that I have stuck on my tail I know is that person, as they have only joined my fan club. I recieve weird e-mails and what is amazing is that most of these stalkers do not know that we can grab their ip addresseses look them up and notify all necessary law enforcement agencies. My stalker is being tracked through these law enforcement agencies and it is only a matter of time.smile monitoring him.

Hey AE, that sounds like an idea for a movie script.  Beautiful young woman, all she wants to do is write and someone starts to stalk her on the net.  She contacts law enforcement but they don't take it seriously.  She starts to feel as if she is being followed.  Things in her home are not where she put them, the tension is mounting.  She gets hate/weird emails.  She contacts some friends on Hubber, people she's formed an online bond with, and together they work to trace the stalker and catch him.  Pretty exciting stuff, eh?

Seriously it isn't exciting and it is more horrific then you can imagine, I wouldn't wish it upon my best friend, you or anybody for that matter.

There has to be a way that IP addresses can be blocked, preventing stalkers from having multiple identities

    1. Frieda Babbley profile image80
Frieda Babbleyposted 14 years agoin reply to this

But IP addresses don't always come from a specific computer or user.  And sometimes they come from the router.  So that would be a tricky thing to do unless you knew the physicality and specific users of the computer.

Yup, all you have to do is wifi and search new groups to to use.  that is what I heard anyway!

I am on a fairly standard broadband arrangement in Australia - to change my IP I disconnect my modem for 10min and then power it on - new IP assigned. I think some places in the US you have a fixed IP but its by no means universal. At the end of the day I don't define love lorn letters from "my esteemed friend" in Nigeria or offensive comments which I delete - or edit for my own purposes on my own blog as stalking - more like entertainment really...
