A few of us have noticed that when we try to add our or other peoples hubs/new sites onto Pinterest we get the message 'This has been blocked because it could be spam'. Not sure who's fault it is, but it seems to be on a lot of our hubs etc. Thanks

Just curious what sites.  I just tried a couple and did not have a problem, but maybe we didn't try the same ones.

Hi Nell, yes, that's happened to me too, more so via my tablet, as I can't share to Pinterest although I can click on the Pinterest share button, and some odd message does come up.  But if I switch to my laptop, I can share to Pinterest, so it just may be my setting on my tablet and phone, possibly.

Hi Faith, it was from my laptop. I get the feeling that because we have changed to another site they think its spam because they know it should be hubpages.

Did you email the staff with this? This is very important to do so they can manage it like they did last time HP got banned.  I get most of my traffic from Pinterest.  Was wondering why traffic has tanked the last few days, perhaps that has something to do with it.  I'm off to investigate.

      Hi Nell,
I am having a devil of a time adding anything to Pinterest. I took a week and just added pics from the main page, so I wouldn't be called a spammer. Since I've been reading and watching Outlander, I've added pins on that, and other categories. They let me add one hub after I posted about 100 pictures that other people put on there. So I'm waiting. I've never had trouble with Pinterest before, but this has been going on with me and them for about a month now.

I'm trying to add hubs from Exemplore, and they won't let me, I get the spam message.

Did you ever contact them via email? They don't respond very often to forums.  Staff@hubpages.com Perhaps they missed this thread. I'd point them here too in your email so they know to address the issue publicly.

The staff was notified about two weeks ago and said they were working on it. The "spam" message went away. I haven't tried this week to post anything, but it looks like the problem is back then.

Can't post anything from TurboFuture.com. I get the first message which is hidden under an image from the hub when I attempt to pin directly from the hub. If I add an URL to a TurboFuture hub while on the Pinterest website, I get the second message. I can pin from DenGarden ok

I had approached their Support Team and they replied it is a big problem which will take time. But now it is more than a month. See below the reply I am getting-

    This site can’t be reached

Sorry it's taken so long.  We want to get them all unblocked.  From time to time this happens.  In the past, we've been able to get it resolved.  I anticipate we will again, but it appears to be taking a little longer to get a response.

If you see a site that is blocked or get's reblocked, please let us know and I'll contact them again.

    Thanks again for reporting.

Thanks for the patience while we sorted this out.  Pinterest let us know that it was a mistake on their part and if we ever see it happen to let them know.  The sites should be good to go now.

If it rears back up, please let us know.

I think time has come to think of an alternative to Pinterest as they seem to be overloaded beyond repairs.
It sure is painful, but neither they nor we can do anything.

  29. Marisa Wright profile image87
    Marisa Wrightposted 8 years ago

I think people need to stop thinking Pinterest is making mistakes and realise that WE are the ones making the mistake.

Pinterest wants to maintain the quality of its site, just like HubPages does.  That means it wants people to post images because they are wonderful images.  They don't want people posting average photos to shamelessly plug their own articles.   So naturally, they have systems in place to prevent that.

The easiest way to prevent that is to block sites that are posting too often.  It's a very common safeguard on many sharing sites.   We used to have the same problem when it was popular to post to Yahoo! Answers and Facebook.

Individually, we may all feel we're not flooding Pinterest with promotional images - but remember, on any given day there may be several Hubbers, all pinning images from ToughNickel or HealDove or wherever, and that is going to trigger the automated blocker.  We can't blame Pinterest for that.  All we can do is make sure we pin only the very best images, and do it sparingly.
