I'm not sure how to proceed. I had an idea of wanting to get all HUB members involved in a food drive. Maybe I'm overstepping my rights here(I hope not). We seem to be scattered world-wide and it just seems like such a great way to promote the spirit of togetherness etc. Christmas being our "Giving Holiday" members with other traditions could share some of their dates and we on that same note could run over a can or two to our food bank here in the name of HUBLANDERS. If you were to read my Gift-of-giving hub it would explain all. As I said I'm not sure how to proceed from here. It is not for self promotion I assure you...Please let me know I'm still very new at this.

I like this idea and am willing to help. Unless there is a reason not to proceed, lets go for it. I'll think about this for a bit and then make a suggestion or two.

Bringing this up to the top of the forums again, because it deserves to be here.

Still thinking about the best way to donate for Christmas as a group.  Must go and find your hub, Zsuzsy!

Marisa! Thanks for your help. (promise not to laugh, I don't know what you mean when you said to Post the link) Where? How? I'm very computer-challenged. When-ever these things needed to be done my daughter was there to do it for me. Now that she's gone off to College I'm stuck...On hind site I guess I should have paid attention.
Look at the Gift of Giving #1 mocha...again thanks for all your help

we on that same note could run over a can or two to our food bank here in the name of HUBLANDER, I think this says it all, we give locally but do so in the name of hubpages, we could set a deadline in December, somewhere around the middle and get the word out. just a few initial thoughts.

Bob! That is what I was hoping for. It doesn't matter where the help is given, What food bank the food goes to. Thank you very much for all your help.

You are welcome, I like the idea of showing that we can come together here at hubpages and do good work in our own communities at the same time.

If you can find a worthwhile charity that has an AdSense account, we could probably set up a HubPages account for them for which anyone could write hubs (you'd create them in your own account, and then we could transfer them to the charity account once they are done).  That way the revenue from your efforts would go directly to the charity without any accounting or taxation hassles.

Thanks Paul! I'll go hunting this afternoon for the right charity...

If you do find a chairty as Paul suggests then we could combine both activities, write hubs with the adsense money going to the charity and use the hubs to organize local giving in our own communities.

Bob! Can you check out www.savethechildren.org  I would like an opinion before I suggest it to Paul. I'm not familiar with this organisation but it looks like they help out world wide and not set on any particular religion. 90% of all collected is used for help and only 10% is lost on administration and advertising.
    Thank you

I think this is a very cool idea--not just for this time of year, but year round.

We'll see how it goes, but I have a feeling a smaller, less well funded charity might be more receptive to the idea.
