    I do not mind the responsibility, It is just the way it happened makes me sad. My boss decided to collect her Christmas bonus early by not taking the daily deposits to the bank before she went on Vacation last week.

       Your boss was the idiot, and you got the promotion because you deserve the promotion for the slot available. Had your boss not done that, then you would have to wait for them to screw up some other way, so you would still end up with the position.
       
       So, what difference does it make "how" you got, just understand why you got it.

    I would have gotten the promotion anyway. From a manager at another location moving up or out of the company. I may have had to wait a little longer but better that than to see someone throw their life away over money.

       Yes, the person chose badly, but every action has a consequence. They knew what that consequence was before committing the action.
       
       Don't feel sorry or pity them. They were weak-willed and of no integrity.
