Now I'm actually gonna share a tip or trick on hubpages for once. Lmao.
Okay, here's the dealio, fans doesnt do anything for your earnings. If you wanna increase your traffic, how about trying to get real fans for a change - people who'll actually check out your hubs every once in a while. That'll help. Just so we're clear, if you're on a fanning spree dont fan me, I wont fan back. So dont bother.
Anyone else is welcome to dig in.

If the want to fan, let them. All they're going to get is massive amount of e-mails telling them their fans have published hubs lol

Actually there's this little check box that allows you to disable email notifications of newly published hubs.

Fans do liven up Hubtivity, and when I like some one's writing, then alot of times I like their choice of reading.  It helps to find new and different authors...

The other day I came across someone who has been here for 2 years, has over 1,200 fans and I had never heard of them before.  There are so many people here, it is impossible to discover them all yourself.  smile

P.S.  I understand that you are talking to people who are famming, and who will have no intention of reading what you write.

I agree, I don't fan people back just because they fan me. It's silly to join so many fan clubs when you don't intend to read all of their hubs.

for the most part, massive fanning sprees are just annoying to the rest of us and cause the person's score to go down. Hubbers jump into the forum all the time crying about a plummeting score then get upset when its pointed out that they just fanned thirty ppl in under two minutes.

Moral of the story- stop famming!!

I only become a fan of someone, if I've READ THEIR HUBS, and enjoy them.  I hope that people who become my fans are doing so because they've enjoyed reading my hubs big_smile

I did disable the notification for emails.

I agree that Hub Pages is too big of a place for anyone to be able to read and fan every hubber's hubs (not that you would want to as that would be famming).
I do find it helpful, tho, to see in Hubtivity that a hubber that I admire has become a fan of someone unknown to me. That sometimes/often inspires me to go check out the unknown hubber's hubs and then I may or may not fan them.

Question for the group: How do you feel about "stealth fanning" meaning just becoming a fan but your name/avatar go to the end of the person's list of fans VS leaving fan mail. I probably should know the answer to this but does leaving vs. not leaving fan mail have any impact whatsoever or is it just for ego stroking?

I thought fan meant for learning to hear the hub post right away on email and see if that topic is worth liking.

Are people becoming fan for points? do yuo really get points. I have limited count of fans but points are not bad... Where this come from?

  16. wesleycox profile image70
    wesleycoxposted 14 years ago

I have fanned people, but only after having read a hub.  If the hub I picked is good and was interesting I fan them.  Sometimes I have not left fan mail.  The way it happened is I found one person I liked their hubs then saw people they were fans of and went to their profile.  Read one or two of their hubs, liked it, fanned them, then kept going.  This is how I found the greats like ralwus, brenda, MM, ghost, fiery, and so many others.  I hope that those actions have not made anyone upset.  If it did, well, I don't care cause I liked the writing I read.  So for the people that I am a fan of, I will usually try to get over there as often as I have time for to read and comment on your hubs.  May not be every time but I will stop by once in awhile to check them out.  I just hope my fans do the same for me.
