You don't need more fans! You need more time to write more hubs. And then you'll be o.k.Asking for fans is not the way to get them. Show your work !! And welcome to hubpages ! smile

Guess what happened to me when i "asked for fans" ? I got shot down letf. right and centre. Maybe work on your hubs and create some good content, preferably something that the audience will like. Fans are following fellow hubbers simply because they dig their hubs.

You didn't get shot down for asking for fans. You got shot down for pretending to have some big marketing secret when really you were just asking for fans. There's a difference. Nobody here likes to be BS-ed.

Here's what happened to me. Joined Intent.com last year. Being a Life Coach, excuse me I mean Aspiration Strategist (I keep forgetting I changed my designation smileI thought I would check out the place where the "big guns" hang out.

Just for fun, I asked Deepak Chopra to be my "friend/fan". He did. While I was getting over an attack of vapours over that, lo and behold, he wrote me a short email.

Ok. I milked that one for all it was worth. When I was doing my TV show Dare to Dream on thatchannel.com, it wasn't unusual for me to slip that into any conversation I was having with any guest. And I would always sigh dramatically when I said "Deepak."

Then came Twitter. I'm now posting under TorontoCoach, but earlier I was posting under my own name and I damn near fainted the day both Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen started following ME. In case you don't know, they're the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" creators, both multi-millionaire success coaches.

    I thought I had "arrived."

Uh no. Doesn't matter how many fans, or the calibre, unless you keep striving to be YOUR very best, fans are only the icing on the cake you haven't yet baked.

I got myself a beautiful fan yesterday based on the fact that my hub touched her soul. May not touch yours; my writing may not be to your taste; but if you keep on doing what you do best, people will follow you gladly.

I think the name of one of your Hubs says is it all - 'Hard Work Pays Off'.  Keep writing and welcome to HubPages smile

At the risk of putting my foot in my mouth without ketchup isn't a fan someone who honestly likes your work? Mutual links are nice but I'd rather have comments from people who actually read it.

Shutting up now. You can put down your tomatoes.

    Hello.
I am a "writer" wanna-be. I've been told I am pretty good, but I've never done anything with my talent. I'm trying to decide if I can really make any money here before I actually commit. The posts I'm reading are interesting, but the wording is somewhat foreign to me. Is there a place to learn the "language" and exactly how all this works?

Uuuuffff Pacal. Good job you didn't point them in the direction of what to do when you're dead or zombies. That stuff's not only a foreign language but so nutty it's crunches when you read it smile
