How long did it take you to earn the 100 followers Accolade?
That's pretty impressive DS given you've not being applying the 'following thousands' strategy.
I try to only follow the people I'm actually interested in, I figure if we have no common interests they're not gonna read my work anyway lol
Makes sense.I apply the same logic and always read through a hub or 2 before following or deciding to re-follow.
It took me about five or six weeks. I spend a lot of time on Hubpages...commenting and reading along with writing.
Seems you're pretty popular alright Carol.I think commenting and reading a lot is a good strategy.I've only been more active in the last while.A month or so ago i only had 5 hubs and hadn't been so active but i'm about to publish no. 11 now :-)
It takes time and also sincerity. I try to read what I like and find something valuable to comment about. It is not hard but it is a time consuming activity...So keep on trucking!
Carol, that does not surprise me. You are very popular here on hubpages and always come across as positive and supportive.
I'm with Carol and DS. About six weeks. It will take me much longer to get 500, I think.
You guys are all way too popular :-) Good luck with the big 500. I've set 2064 as my target date to reach that milestone.
About two weeks, but I had been reading on here and commenting pretty heavy for two or three months before I joined. When everyone found out that I joined and was writing, they flocked over and followed me. I topped 300 right about at one year. I only follow if I am going to read their hubs though. I do not see a reason to follow otherwise.
Good going Becky. I've never noticed anyone who hadn't yet joined being too active on the site.Good way to get a flavor for the community before singing up.You obviously made a good impression - 100 in 3 weeks - i'll be lucky if i'm at 100 in 3 years
Rob, I have been on HP for over a year. The 100, I have no idea what I did but for two days, it sat there taunting me. Now it is gone. They don't last long.
I still need to reach that level. Depends upon how active and interactive we are..
You and me both CB. I was beginning to feel a bit lonely with all these popular folk above. In fairness i've been nowhere near as productive as those guys which i feel is a big factor. If i divide my followers by the no. of hubs i have .. not so bad
Oooh, I'm not there yet. But to be really honest, if it happens I'll be delighted and if it doesn't then maybe someone's telling me something :0)
I think you're doingvery well for just 3 months.Followers are not quite as easily come by here as in other places (prob a good thing) . Some people inflate their numbers by just following thousands but that's not something a lot of people would do.
Ive been on Hub Pages for around 2 years and I'm not there yet (10 to go!) I am not the most active person on Hub Pages though. I can have a few really active weeks, then not log on for months. I do notice when I am more active, I get more followers though.
I've noticed that too.GL you're nearly there!
I joined HB about 14 months ago, wrote two or thee hubs and did nothing for the next two or three months because of other time demands. So not counting that five month period, it took me about two months to get to the 100 mark. I less than 20 short of the 200 mark at this time.
Still good going Larry.GL with the 200 Mark :-)

Have you noticed that the high earners on HubPages appear to follow very few writers themselves?Could it be said then, that it is more important to have a following than it is to follow back other writers and Are we spending too much time commenting at the cost of writing new content?

An Accolade is an award for an achievement. But Commenter Level isn't an award for achievement - it's just a measure of your commenting activity at that point in time. In that sense, it's more like Hubber Score. The trouble is that people think it is an award for achievement...

I've been voting so many hubs up/down, been flagging inappropriate low quality hubs, but seldom uses forums. It's just this week when I seem not to get it. This wasn't the case in the past few weeks. Am I doing something wrong? or missing something?without the accolade, you know it's hard to get...
