What can you do if you have a hub that has a lot of comments, but hubpages posts fewer comments.
I have a hub that has over 947 comments, But, hubpages has stopped the comments. There is actually 947 comments on it. If you look at it, it says it has 937 comments. I checked it today and the last few comments are not there. I approved them, but they are not there. Is there anything I can do?
Honestly Michele I wasn't aware that the Hub Pages even had restrictions or a limit on comments for a hub. What's even stranger is the odd number of 947 comments where they cut you off at. I can't help you with this answer, but I look forward to hearing the reason "WHY".
Wow, Michele, that is quite a good record for comments on a hub. That shows you are writing good articles and have some great interaction with other hubbers. I don't know the answer to this though, perhaps an email to firstname.lastname@example.org would be able to resolve it for you.
I don't think the problem is caused by the program's restrictions on comments but by some fault in the program. I also have a hub with lots of comments. It is How to File a Complaint or Grievance Against a Bad Boss. They are not comments but requests for advice on how to handle their difficult situations at work. Hubpages posts all of the comments on the hub and on the home page, but has stopped notifying me on my email when I have received a comment. I now have to go to my hubs and check.
I've never heard of anyone having so many comments on a Hub before, so perhaps you've finally hit the maximum. It is an odd number to stop at, but I'm guessing the capacity is in number of lines or size of storage.
Is every single comment a real one? Why not go back through the comments and delete any which don't add value to the Hub, e.g. one liners like "great Hub". Many people who post comments like that aren't genuine - they're just posting to get a link (their name is a link to their own work), so you don't need to feel bad about getting rid of them.
Once you've denied and deleted some, go back and check whether some of the missing ones have appeared - then you'll know it's a capacity thing.
yes they are real comments, not fake ones, and I have not deleted them. If you look at the hub, it says it had 937 comments, but if you into the hub it says 947 comments, but the comments made in the last 2 months are gone. They are not all mine.
I think Marisa's advice about deleting the superficial "great hub!" comments is good. However, going thru 937 comments will be a pain. Why not email staff and have the lift the cap manually for you? I'm sure they would oblige you.
Marisa wasn't saying that you did delete them, she was simply suggesting that maybe you review the comments and delete them to make space for more relevant comments.
I put it down as a computer glitch. I do not know if Hub Pages uses servers located in various areas as a way of protecting data or providing redundancy if something like Hurricane Sandy causes communication problems. To determine if this is the case, check the dates of the last 100 hubs and see if they are in order or if there are any gaps. Check to see if there is one or two persons who frequently comments, whose comments are missing. Finally, see if any of the comments came in the last few days while older ones are disappearing. If both of those situations exists, I would say there was a server problem somewhere that will be corrected at some point in the future. I had a problem with Google Gmail a few months ago and for reasons still unclear to me I lost a lot of old e-mail. Stuff happens and sometimes there is no acceptable explanation. It is also possible, but I am not sure, that if a Hubber is banned, his comments may go with him. I had one hubber who admitted to removing his comments. Not sure how he did it, but they did disappear.
