How come HP doesn't have the mentioning system in comments?
It's either you should be able to mention someone responding him/her. Or having your comment listed under their comment specified as a respond .... The current system is rather weird :l
agreed, though i never thought about it, but what you mentioned is totally correct, i hope the hub staff takes a note of this
Like message board style? I could dig it. If I have a lot of comments, I generally just make one reply, addressing each person who took the time to leave me a comment.
I only had 6 comments and making 6 responds addressing 6 diff. names making them go through all 6 of them looking or their name ... it just sounds stupid. and user experience wise, it's wrong. But I'l go with your one reply way
I actually have had a few conversations between folks over several comments, and it would be awesome to have those threaded, too.
This is a good question. I had never thought about this before you mentioned it here. I will leave this question for more seasoned, or experienced writers on HP to address. I will be very interesting to see how the "old-timers," that is, those who have written for HP for a long time, will respond to this question.
How spoiled we are. This is a nice idea. I'd love for HubPages to make it happen. Perhaps having been brought up, they will work on designing that function.
Dear, dear, such impatience! Not long ago, questions didn't even have a comment space.
If you like this idea, why not propose it on the suggestions for it, instead of asking (or complaining) about it here? That might be more appropriate, if, as Cole suggests, you think it is a good idea.
In the meantime, it is very easy to open a Q&A or hub, then open one's browser "search this page" function (usually control+F), then type a name to search for. I do it all the time.
Lastly, is it such a good idea. The HP Forum easily becomes a space for flame wars. Do we really want Hub Comments or Q&A to have a mention/reply function like the forums?
user experience ... it's not a must yet it's better. it's basically why most websites keeps on changing their layout making it easier and easier for users. So yea I can use Ctrl+F .. or just have the functionality available. which is easier?

I'm sure there are many reasons for and against responding to comments left by your readers. What do you think?
