Have you received any spam comments on Hubpages?
I've been on HP for a long time and this morning was the first that I ever got a spam message to one of my hubs. I denied her comment and deleted her forever, but nonetheless, it was still disturbing. The commenter tried to direct me to another site to share "photos." Most likely these were porn and it really irritated me to see her message.
Dennis, This sort of mail is a nuisance, to say the least. I've received one or two, in the past 2 years and dealt with them, just as you have......delete, erase and ignore. I don't even recall their content, but we always know they are sent by lonely, desperate individuals, with absolutely nothing constructive to do with their lives.
Actually, they're not worth even the few minutes we're taking, to discuss them. Weirdos are around every corner and will always be....We just need to walk right on by and leave them to their stupidity..........Peace.
I have gotten a couple, mostly directing the reader to a website selling something related to my hub. I delete them. Every once in a while, I find one in a hub that came in marked as spam, but is a legitimate comment. I'll keep those.
I get them periodically, usually they are trying to link to a website - automatic delete. I figure if someone wants me to review or plug their site they can do me the courtesy of private contact first.
Other comments sometimes make no sense also, kind of like gibberish or spun words that are very generic and I delete those too. Annoying, but I think spam is a phenomenon we can't fully escape.
Yes, I have gotten them from time to time and of course they get the automatic delete button.
I've had some spam comments though thankfully it's been a while. I guess It happens to everybody sooner or later. I just can'em and move on..
Twice I have received comments that were marked as spam but were ordinary comments that I answered. Spam, alas, is everywhere these days I'm afraid.
Yes, I've gotten a few in the past. Most have links to other websites, and in general seemed pretty shady. I just delete them whenever I get them.
Sure; I figured we all got them from time to time. Like everyone else is saying, delete and forget--unless is a Hubber whose done it, in which case I do report them to the Team. Unless (one other qualification) it's a new Hubber who looks like he or she might just need some friendly education...but those are rare.
I've had dozens if not hundreds that were marked Spam but weren't.
However, and this is significant, HP successfully filters NEARLY all of the bad guys away from our stuff. I have a small WordPress site, just for the topics HP doesn't want, and have yet to find a software widget powerful enough to filter the Spammers out from that site. Had to finally set things so that comments were shut off 14 days after publication.
So, just saying, kudos to HP, big time.
Yes, two or three times I have got it. They invite me to some business deal. I don't like these types of things and avoided it.
Me too, only two or three in two years. Delete and ignore...never give them credence or reason to think they've accomplished something.
Not yet, but I do expect this to happen. At the end of the day there will be people who try to use the site to their advantage. Good I have the deny button for them
yeah, i had received a number of times spam comments which i deleted and branded the commenter as "spam". It does irritate me too when they give you nonsense messages and a link to their websites or promotions.
I get many nonsense messages in my fan mail section but haven't had many in comment form on a hub.
I have received 3 or 4 and deleted them as spam as others have done. As far as I recall, they were all from the same source.
It's annoying and timewasting!
I have not received them in my comments section, but have found them in the fan mail. One user was already taken down from HubPages before I could even report as spam. Glad for the deny button!

Normally, I approve 99% of all comments left on my hubs. But twice today, and once yesterday, there were comments left, all by "anonymous," that I simply denied because they were just way out of line. Not demeaning, offensive, hateful, or anything like that...just WAY off topic.In...

Just in the past 10 minutes or so I've already gotten 3 spam comments, all on the same hub! And whenever I delete one, it seems another immediately comes up!I'm sure that when I wake up tomorrow (it's almost 1 in the morning now) I'll have many more to delete. Ugh, is there a way to stop these spam...

I started getting a few spammy comments a few days ago. I posted a thread and someone suggested changing my comment settings to allowing only signed in users being allowed to comment and approval before they were published. So I changed my settings. Today the spam was even worse, took me a half...

Another one about a comment I received....Okay, I'm still figuring all of this out. I got a comment today and where you usually click approve or deny, it says status spam. It gives you the option click delete forever or mark as not spam. What would you suggest? I've never...

I seldom find a comment to my hubs hub that include a business link. Are links allowed in the comment section? Do you reply or do you delete the comment? Thanks.
