Tantrum, I'm not sure I'm really as sensible as I may sometimes come across, but your contributions on here are witty and clever and creative (and often funny); and there are "personalities" on here that - like you - make things fun a lot of times.
I don't think the OP is necessarily correct in assuming that people who may want to sign up here won't if they see (particularly) this recent run of "interesting" pictures. When I signed up here it was because I was sick to death of the rigidity and lack of creativity that was involved in writing professionally for other people. I wasn't looking for yet more of the same. I was looking for a place where I could write what I want to write, how I want to write it, and with whatever picture I do or don't want to post. I wasn't looking at, and sizing up, other people's avatars when I signed up. Other people's work and pictures was, as far as I was concerned, their business. My work and picture were mine. That's what good about being self-employed and/or writing online. You don't have that thing where everyone is watching what everyone else is doing and wearing.
I just think the people who have made this site as successful as it is have done something right. Of the thousands and thousands of writers here, some are professional writers, some are professionals in other fields, and some are hobby writers. If HubPages were to get too rigid (like another site or two I know of) they would likely drive away their most creative and talented people, and end up with just the kind of superficial mentality a lot of people came here to get away from.
This seems to me like a matter of "if something ain't broke don't fix it".
Let me guess, you got into a war of words with someone...SURPRISE...you got the better of them....SURPRISE!! and then they got petty and tried to report you for your avatar??? PETTY....glad it turned out well for you..
One thing I'd worry about: What if I put this avatar next to Hubs like one about ways to move on after the death of a loved one, or making your fake Christmas tree look better. (to say nothing about the one on easy, cheap, dinners )
Oh Good grief it is always something lately on here isn't it? Geezzzz if it isn't one anything it is another half naked Avatars have been around forever on HP it is all the Indian pics that honestly drive me nuts but I also believe that is a form of art. ***Sigh****
What do you think about writers who don't put their photo as avatar in Hubpages?I have seen many hubbers that have preferred anonymity and don’t use their photo as avatar in their profile. What do you think about this? Do you think it rests credibility to the author? Do you see any other...
This one is going to be fun! What I've observed on the forums is that there are a few, kind of unwritten cliques of hubbers who consider themselves 'experts' in almost everything and kind of try to 'educate' newcomers as if one must submit before them because these veteran hubbers have won Nobel...
He was really funny, had sheep puppets racing on sheep and they were trying to knock one another off. I think one puppet had a green sweater on and the othe red. He always said "giggity".where did he go??? I've woken from my sleep and suddenly alot of my pals are gone.
There are actually some here that want more restrictions on what who can publish here!! They really want to hold back new artists and writers.Well excuse me Hitler's book burning Germany but no thank you. I grew up with Uncle Tom's Cabin banned.I grew up with Martin Luther King's work being...
Dear staff, is there anything that can be done to the feed where I can choose not to receive notice of hubs shared by other hubbers? There are people who share every hub they read. If I want to read a hub or follow someone I will. I don't need to see all those hubs of people I don't even know in my...
