What causes your rating to increase and decrease at a rapid rate?

It seems like last week my rating was in the high 80's. And this week it is dropping rapidly. I have not changed anything or been inactive.

Let me answer this by way of Willian Holland aka "Billybuc". He is the most prolific and followed person around HP. And Icon of over 5 years. His score just now is 84.
This is just an example of the silliness of the rating. It is not to be considered as any marker of success or number of visits.
You get up into around 800 articles and have over 100 featured and you can get my score. Upper 70's while someone with 10 articles published and 5 featured has a score above 90.
All advice is on ignoring that thing -- whatever the hell it is.

This question has baffled hubbers for years Ryan, and no one seems to have a definitive answer. Eric gave a good example. When I was publishing a hub per week or more my score kept dropping, recently I have been publishing around one every three weeks and my score has gradually risen to 88 for the first time in perhaps a year. It used to always hover between 88 and 90, but for the last two years has been around 85 on average. I too have noticed people with just five or six hubs with scores as high as mine and I have over 300.

Thank you for the feedback. I'm at 71 and dropping but I guess it really does not matter. I was just curious. I never really knew what the rating system was based on

Don't bother worrying about it. Just continue write. Watching the score will drive you nuts.

Hi Ryan, I not quite sure yet. I've made improvements, Changed capsules t how they want them. I even went through and changed all my half width photos. With all this and more awards and articles, my score has gone down. Just when I thought I knew what does it, I am left scratching my head.  Now I am trying to ignore it. THat's if my OCD will allow me to, LOL. have a great day. let me know if you find out.
