Does anyone understand meta tags application enough to explain why we can't control meta tags, or can we, and I just don't know how to do it on hubpages?
To use meta tags you would need to be able to edit a web page at the HTML level and writers at HubPages can not do this. You can write a good summary and make sure your Hubs have a good title. Also make sure to use good keywords.
thank you both.. I was pondering why we are so slighted and have to struggle with an area of inaccessible internet that does not need to be so reclusive. Its like we are being shielded from the real internet world, hid behind this sub-hub machine that is suited better to operate within its own exclusive boundaries, which has no inside earning program.. Yes, we all know we aren't highly favored on any of the Google, Yahoo, or any mainstream search engines. We are truly small potatoes and as I have the sense to know. Maybe others understand this far more than me, how the Hubpage platform is serving its constructors and providing them paychecks while we are the moles, allowed to exist but not easily flourish.. hehe. Haven't you seen authors names like "FlourishAnyway?" If you can adapt to starting handicapped, you can perhaps be happy with the product or results brought you at the end of the day.. You will have to cross your site with this, and with that, and become a hubwriting houdini before its over.. just saying.. but please give me something more solid.. how many steps, or how many hoops do you have to jump through on your site to see income? do you feel like you are driving 35 in a 70 MPH zone like I do? oops sorry, I meant to say 10 mph, and I'm out of the car pushing every minute, and it doesn't matter how much gas I put in the tank, I still have to push it manually, SO, I know hubpage inventors know some things we don't know.. they are letting those who work hard enough long enough and make it though the maze and jump through their hoops elevate this site.. It must be profitable at that point for them, is all that I can conclude. They aren't giving us any marketing strategy or strength based on the site itself. If I worked my hubs every single day, 100 of them, I can generate a 3 day traffic totally a couple hundred residual hits and then completely come back down to a zero hit score.. frustrating for anyone else? Yes I know some of you pay for a site to actually advertise and produce income, and bring some of that paid for traffic back to hubpages, for its benefit more than yours. We are bees working for a queen in a colony where the queen gets the honey, IF you and I and everyone is faithful to give her the loyalty. We never see the actual search within world wide web based on a hubpage created page. I can show you the source of viewers and at least they are honest to show you and back up this premise. I'm just being candid, and honest here. They don't seem to be feeding the worker bees.. not here. I'm just allowed to create and feed the queen. I like flourishanyway's attitude but it rings of the truth of what I am saying. I would have to change my hub name to something like Oscarssinkholepoorlitesite.. really. I'm not looking for sympathy, I'm asking for domain change, so that each honest-hearted write has a chance to be read and heard, then if we are so bad, tall us so we can go dig ditches instead of writing. over and out.. this is about the same odds as the casino for being a winner. you keep putting your time and money in and you keep being a loser.. btw, national statistics are showing more money is lost across the nation in casinos than in the sum total of all home break-ins combined. You keep putting in but never get a significant return for investment is the analogy. six years total income shows me at less than $14.00: Never have I made a payout at even the $50 Paypal minimum. Never. But I bet the establishment generates a big net profit. I don't see that any of those profits as a website are being shared with its stakeholders. Us.. respectively.. MOJ.
PS: (please give me a reason to believe otherwise.) I'm honestly searching; I believe I am a good businessman, and I do hold a couple of state university degrees in business and public management.
"Yes, we all know we aren't highly favored on any of the Google, Yahoo, or any mainstream search engines" Speak for yourself! When most of my articles are first page, first position (after the ads, of course) with just very vague keyword searches, I'd say I'm pretty well favored with the search engines. I too plan to surpass the 4 digit payouts this year. Just because you, personally aren't getting decent payout on here, doesn't mean other people aren't. That was a very careless comment you posted!
Oh is that what he said. Yeah, I think I would surpass the 4 digit mark this summer too.
Rob--- question. do you rely solely on hubpages, or other linked sites to drive your traffic?
He like most of us gets traffic from search engines, mainly Google.
Nice job! I still am trying to write enough to make $50 in a month. I will eventually get there I think. I may not be able to write amazing Hubs but I figure if I write enough OK Hubs it will add up.
The summary section is the meta description. The title of your page is the Meta title. That's all the important stuff covered. Meta keywords are not used anymore. The image description serves as the image alt tag. You don't really need anything else?
Good grief. You might think about using paragraphs.
Most of what you say, as it refers to HubPages is nonsense. Why would a platform allow anyone to interfere with its structure and coding? HubPages gives us plenty of tools to help make our articles look good.
And the network sites do really well in search engines.
And what do you mean about not having an 'inside earning program'? That 'inside earning program' has taken me closer to four figures than I've ever been this month. In the time I've been here, I've earned hmm... let's say, quite a lot. And I didn't even do any writing for three years and still made payout every month bar one or two. The past year has been phenomenal.
I can't address all your points, but most of them are simply untrue and demonstrate that you don't really know how the site operates.
I looked at one of your hubs: https://hubpages.com/education/Are-the- … ut-to-Flip You don't use subtitles, you have massive gaps between sections, and you lack basic English skills such as using punctuation correctly (it's Earth's magnetic fields. I suggest that this is what holds you back from earning a decent income here. Not the platform.
And I wouldn't cite the Daily Fail as a reputable source of information. It's a rag.
None of your articles are on the network sites. Why haven't you tried to improve them so they get moved? That's where the traffic is... and the income.
Instead of complaining about HubPages, why don't you try working with it to improve your writing and your articles?
I'm sorry that I felt the need to address your rant with one of my own, but really you can't make such complaints when you don't feel it necessary to turn yourself into the best writer you can. Mucking about with the site coding won't make your hubs any better.
Thanks for the reply to that post, I couldn't get myself to read it first thing in the morning
Here is another interesting study for your spare time:
Why do people who start rants fail to use paragraphs?
(I only mention this becuase I know you have SO MUCH spare time!)
I do waste a lot of time procrastinating. Having something to think about helps lol.
I got a theory: When you go on a rant, you're usually mad at something and it's human tendency to just keep talking when on a rant, the same seems to happen here. They just keep typing.
I still haven't and I refuse to read what was written. I personally feel I have some sort of OCD, and I cannot handle looking at things so unorderly. When I play age of empires online, my teammates often comment on how neatly placed the buildings in my settlement are.
I stopped reading in the middle too but I think it was just laziness on my part. tl;dr syndrome.
LOL! I thought I was the only person on the planet who still plays Age of Empires. I don't play online though, but I have the same OCD issues with my buildings. It has to look like a village, dangit! I don't like clumping my houses together because then the villagers can't walk between them. I try to place them in rows with "streets" between them. And I hate putting the military buildings next to things like houses and churches because that seems like a terrible way to live.
Oooh!! My long lost brother. My farms are so well placed too, Sometimes when I have that one square between farms where I cannot place another farm (1 square duh) on I am a bit sad (very very very slightly sad).
I was just looking at the online version. Seems really cool. Amazing how far the game has come in 20 years!
Thank you all.. I do accept criticism. I do also accept I may not have the best skills of all as some of you have. But, I feel that the amount of time spent trying to produce literature, diversity of subject matter, and efforts to correct my grammer and writing skills, would have even accidentally produced something. I believe the squirrel can be knocked out of a tree if one practices his aim enough. So, all you can come up with is that my overall writing skill ( and other frustrated hubbers) is the reason for not ever producing income. You also seem to be confirming my mention of my needing a higher level of maze navigation skills.
From what I've seen we can't enter or adjust meta tags. Which to me is no big deal anymore
Meta tags have fallen out of favor in SEO. Concentrate on good titles and subtitles for grabbing attention and key words.

Are you happy with your experience? I've been with HubPages for 5 years now. I have almost 500 articles and the majority of them are featured. I publish quite frequently and follow all of the rules. I post my articles to facebook and pinterest, I am part of Amazon Associates, and yet I make very...

I haven't posted in a while, but I still check my accounts and these forums every day, just like the past 13 years. I really wish HP would continue on in its current form, but that appears increasingly unlikely. It feels we are nearing the end of the line, but it's hard to just give up after...

I'm currently trying to get my husband to help me write some hubs. I'm happy to type them up and edit them, I basically want his input on topics that I know nothing about - because the more topics you cover the more chance you have of getting a great niche. My husband is half won over on the idea I...

Hi, I'm completely new to freelance writing and I thought I'd give it a shot because writing is second nature to me and it's something I really enjoy. But I'm not sure if a website like HubPages fits what I want to write about. It's been suggested to me that blogging is more up my alley. What I...
