Just got rerouted through Frisco where I am currently relaxing.  Anyone leaving from here today?  Just curious if I might be sharing a flight with anyone : )

Wish I'd known about this earlier - I'd have worked on a way to attend.

I’m flying in from JFK in New York. Just got to the airport. Flight leaves in two hours.

Natalie, when does your flight arrive in Vancouver? I’ll be landing at 1AM BC time. I wonder if we’ll share the same limo shuttle.

Ugh.  Better you than me - I leave at 8, get there at 11 with a one hour time change.  Always hated flying east to west.

You have it better than me. I have a three hour time difference. It’s two hours from the airport to the hotel. So I’ll be checking into my room around 3 AM, which is 6AM by my New York time. I sure hope I sleep on the plane. Crazy!

LOL  We flew to Scotland a couple of years ago.  6 airports and 24 hours later, caught a shuttle to the bus station and a bus to the next town, followed by a 1 mile walk (towing luggage) to our hostel.  And still felt good enough to dump the luggage and walk to Edinburgh Castle (after getting something to eat!).

Wow! What an ordeal. You should write a hub about that. I’m sure people do searches for information about long distance travel, what to expect, how to  deal with it, how to plan for it, and so on. I think it would do well.

We (my wife and I) had a WONDERFUL time, but it was certainly different than anything we'd ever done.  Never got a car, navigating through strange cities on foot for miles.  Stayed in a hostel, including a co-ed 12 person dorm room one night.  Did 3 weeks with nothing but a carry-on bag for each of us, and weather ranging from snowstorms to the 70's.  Rode the "Hogwarts Express", and saw things so ancient I couldn't truly fathom them.

You should definitely write about that trip! That's the way to go if you want to experience a country the right way. Some people want to get an all inclusive package, and that's smart for saving money in the Caribbean. But all the resorts are so homogenized now, you can't even tell what island you are on anyway.

I love plants and so I notice new construction with plants and flowers that are one season old. I love Jamaica because it's a volcanic island, and I've seen trees and beautiful plants I've never seen anywhere else. But I also want to walk around the neighborhoods and meet people. I understand people want to be safe, but why go to another culture if you are going to lock yourself inside walls? Or complain the food is different than at home?

People actually do that? Stay at their hotel and complain about food? Haha, I find it hilarious.

                    Hi lobobrandon,
Truly, they do. I have relatives who know I love to travel, but they are afraid to go anywhere outside the U.S. One said, "Is the food the same as here?" I had to explain in a foreign country, they may make concessions to American visitors, but you get what they eat there, and hopefully you like it. One cousin went to the Dominican Republic when it first became more ready for tourism. I asked her if my Spanish was up to speed, and she said, "They can't get in, the fences keep them out!" God, racism too.

Disclosure: These are relatives on my late husband's side of the family, lol.

Oh, you meant 12:45 PM.  I thought AM since a few of us were arriving in the middle of the night.

I just checked in at the hotel. Are you staying at the Fairmont? Or the Four Seasons. I met a girl from Maven who is booked that the Four Seasons.

          Have a safe flight.

We are all meeting in the Ballroom at 7pm for dinner and keynote by James Heckman. Make sure you register so you get the pass you need to wear. If you need help, call me and I’ll meet you to walk you through it. But quick as I need to get ready. I’ll be in my room for a few minutes - 439.

Natalie, leave me a message when you get settled. If you are booked in the Fairmont maybe we can meet for breakfast. For now, I’m going to get some sleep for a few hours. Didn’t sleep on the plane. It 4:20 AM here. Just got settled in my room.

Talked with Paul about getting hubbers together here.  He said dinner is for us so the dinner option in your bag should have the HP group.  He also said if he could he'd try to get us together informally during gondola ride and lunch so look for him. (He's in a tan cap).  Hope to see everyone there.

Randy - did everything work out with luggage etc.?

What's up for dinner for HP folks, any clue?  I'm at Stonesedge but I know that Glenn is somewhere different and both of us are somewhere different from Paul.  I wonder if there's a chance we could all be together considering we haven't met up yet during this conference excepts in a limited way.  I think I've met 4 or 5 others in addition to Paul and Robin.  Hoping this can happen.

If there are any questions other hubbers have that you might want us to try to help answer while we are here, please send them on.  I can't promise we can answer everything but I am sure all of us who are here would like to get information back to you guys that would be useful.

    Take care!

Hey Natalie, I would like to know about the new QnA feature and how we see short answers. Do these separate pages not constitute low-quality pages that HP once was against? What is the tactic being used by the team there?

They are probably exhausted. They all came from different places and time zones, and it seems the time was limited to do whatever it was they did. Also, it seems they were separated, as each of them was asked to go because of a special ability.

I can't wait to hear what they learned or ideas they discussed. I pray we don't have to make yet another change to all our articles, it took me until January 15th to fix all my pictures to the right sizes. And I notice even when I improve an old article, they recheck it. I had a book review, with an Amazon capsule selling the book, which I read. I changed a picture on the top because it was similar to the book cover. I put the Amazon capsule back. Sometimes the editors get petty. What's wrong with a book review selling the book I reviewed?

But I don't want to revamp 141 hubs all over again!
