I have been on FB for years, but I still don't get it.
Am looking for nuances that I just don't understand. Even basics.
At some point it becomes a waste of time, repetitive and pointless. Politics, philosophy and someone's supposedly awesome day or vacation or dinner or whatever, at some point dries up. But I still participate; a little less these days though.
Groups are fun though? Places where people can discuss common interests/get help. I agree about personal pages though. They can become one-person stages for wannabe fame seekers.
For me it is a place to stay in touch with my family who live in another country--not frivolous at all.
It does different things for different people. Its a way to be in touch with people, either people you know or people with common interests. If what you see there annoys you, follow different people who are less annoying.
Yup, I only use it to keep in touch with family and friends across continents and I am on some SEO groups. Most of the SEO groups are nothing but sales pitches for the owners, but there are some gems you find every other month, I like those.
Other than that, it's a birthday reminder I am not good with dates, it tells me when I need to wish my friends hehe.
The birthday reminders have saved me a few times! And I have found some good topical groups on stock trading aquarium keeping and other stuff.
I mostly only use Facebook because having an account helps in the online games I play. Other than that I just use it to see what my family posts.
No secret Facebook strategy from me.
Thanks for the responses. If anyone wants to add tricks of the trade, am glad to hear it.

Featured hubs is too cool allowing us to feature what we want. Is there any way the same could be done with the author's groups? Many authors here concentrate on multiple areas. Readers from one area may only be interested in that particular group of writings. For instance,...
