ALSO if you take a look at his first post in this thread, he is asking for our thoughts. To say any different then what we think would be a lie.

I do not think we need new rules... most of us haven't mastered the old ones yet. smile

I've thought some more about this whole idea of an unofficial code of conduct for the HP forums and I can't see that it would make the tiniest bit of difference.  The people whose behaviour you want to "modify" aren't going to give a stuff about such a code (they don't care much for the official forum rules, so they certainly aren't going to pay attention to any unofficial ones).

Another thing to bear in mind is that this is an Internet forum.  It's not a home, workplace or school, where you pretty much have to interact with people.  On the HP forums, you can withdraw participation at any time, without any harm to your livelihood or person.  Or you can simply ignore the people you don't want to interact with.  It's not life and death.  We don't need any more rules here than we've already got - official or unofficial.

That said, you did make a suggestion in one of your hubs that people should be blocked from the forums until they've published at least one hub.  I don't think that's a bad idea.  It won't eliminate the spam and sock puppetry, but it might help cut it down a bit.
