Question About Comments

   I get these kinds of comments literally every freaking day. It's obviously for some sort of spam reason, but I can't figure out what. Here's an example:
   
   "Unquestionably believe that that you said. Your favorite reason appeared to be on the web the simplest thing to take into accout of. I say to you, I definitely get irked whilst people think about worries that they plainly don't know about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the highest and also defined out the whole thing without having side effect , other folks can take a signal. Will likely be again to get more. Thanks"

      This is nothing but gibberish obviously written by someone who isn't quite right in the head.  Report it.  Delete it. and move on.

      I truly don't get it. The poster name/classification is usually a link-less anonymous and there are no links or product/service names in the comment. What are they trying to accomplish?

         Is this happening on Hubpages network things? I used to get very very similar sorts of comments on blogger blogs.

            You got it. I was talking about my website (which I deliberately did not mention); hosted on Blogger). The people making those comments are trying to accomplish something, but the total lack of links and the total lack of product/service mentions has me wondering what.

         I have a website and I get these kinds of comments all the time.  The links are in their names, email addresses and websites.  Their goal is to get you to click on those links to see who they are or possibly infect your computer with a virus or trojan.  I don't click, I delete.

            I get those, too; but these comments are totally link-less, including their names and sans email addresses and website URLs.

               Check your comment settings.  I have a Wordpress site.  Under "Discussion Settings" I checked "comment author must fill out name and email" so all my comments have at least an email link in them.  You may be blocking links somehow and the commenters don't know it.

                  I think you're right. There's probably embedded links, but they're not being highlighted when displayed in my moderation queue. Because of the daily onslaught, I finally set the site to 100% moderation, so I'm happy to say that those critters never see the light of day. Must tic them off when they click publish and get hit with the message "Comment will be published after approval." Leastwise they know to not bother coming back to do it again. Unfortunately, a new crop still keeps showing up everyday. There must be millions of these guys; kind of a sad statement about humanity.

   I've gotten these kind of comments before, but more often, after or in the middle of the gibberish, there is a link to some service they are trying to promote.  Most often, a plumber, and it shows up on my "How to Prevent Toilet Clogs" article, or on my article about plumbing aboard boats.
   
   I just delete and move on.

   Usually it's people marketing something, like Gregory mentioned. That one was kind of funny to read though, like they tried to form a sentence of any kind, then got side tracked and started again 30% into it, then gave up.

      Good one! And it looks like my website is the only one that bothers to delete that junk. Am totally fine with that, it increases my website ranking and decreases theirs.

         My new master plan, I shall delete myself to the front page of Google for every keyword. At the current rate, it should take about 6 months.

    When I get this kind of gibberish in a comment, I just take a moment to roll my eyes, then hit "Deny," and "Delete forever."
    
    Not worth the energy it takes to get worked up about it.

    I deleted a comment today that was left on one of my album reviews. It said "Great review, thanks, I have added this album to my online radio" and a link to some music streaming site I've never heard of. I sez, "Yyyyyeah, nice try, pal."

       I get over a half-dozen of these kinds of comments daily. Yesterday they oddly all showed up on the same article. There must be some kind of network of these guys. At any rate, I tacked this on the end of the article: "Due to excessive spam, all comments are moderated before publication."
       
       That message both did and didn't work. It worked in that it appeared to stop them dead in their tracks for that particular article. But it didn't work in that instead of leaving, they simply scattered out to another half-dozen different articles. Kind of funny actually. Wasn't any additional work for me, Blogger very nicely puts them all on a single moderation queue page; even better, only one click is needed to tag all of them for deletion. Apparently, I'm a really popular guy out there.
