"We live in a universe in which there are laws, just as there is a law of gravity. If you fall off a building it doesn't matter if you're a good person or a bad person, you're going to hit the ground."

It also doesn't matter how you feel about, you're going to hit the ground. Reality is an interesting thing, isn't it?

This quote reminds of Matthew 5:43-48.

Matthew 5:43-48 has absolutely nothing to do with this thread. As for Matthew 5:43-48 saying "Love thy enemy", that is only one of the stupider things the bible says; especially when that enemy is trying to kill you. Now if Matthew 5:43-48 had said,"attempt peaceful coexistence, but know when to quit", that would have made more sense (though still has nothing to do with this thread). That is cool. The quote reminds you of something from the Bible. It's interesting how quotes in general spark a familiarity or an idea.

One of the beauties of quoting quotes is that it does spark ponderings and wonderings, sometimes leading to great discussions or even wanderings. Always like seeing what you post, and always wonder what caused you to choose that one at that time. smile

In context, the words of Matthew 5 were to people of an agrarian society but the concept of when it rains God makes it fall on all people (not stopping it at a righteous person's farm edge to skip an evil farmer's land and go on to find another righteous one) stands true today, though to most, rains may generally look more like good economic times as opposed to a true depression.

The passage speaks of Godly mercy, but it's important to remember that He teaches us in word and deed that because He is perfectly merciful does not mean He is not perfect in justice. More than we can fathom, true, but it is, after all, God we are dealing with (I think that last comes from Lewis.)
