What happens to an article that goes to LetterPile? Is it a good sign or a bad sign? I have not been on here in a long time and just got back on a few days ago. I had never heard of LetterPile until just recently.
HubPages has created a group of network sites. You can see their names and explore them by clicking on "Help" at the top right of this page. The network sites are listed on the first page that appears.
It's generally good news if an article is switched from HubPages to a network site. The curators/editors switch articles that they think are of good quality.
I have had two articles published to LetterPile and they don't seem to get near the traffic as my articles that are published on the other sites. In my experience, LetterPile seems to be where articles go to die... :-(
I think poems and stories mostly go there and there might not be much crowd for them unlike how to and travel articles.
Letterpile is generally considered to be the saddest niche site.
CYong74, I believe that. One of the articles of mine that ended up there was of high quality and I expected it to go to Owlcation where most of my articles get placed. Somehow, I don't think that Letterpile gets the same web referral traffic. I would ask Hubpages to consider moving it, but I doubt that it would do any good.
Letterpile is definitely the worst niche site in my experience. I had an article that I thought should be on Owlcation as well, but they refuse to move it claiming it doesn't fit the criteria even though it does and there are "worse" articles on Owlcation that do not fit at all and should definitely get moved to Letterpile or elsewhere that are still on Owlcation.
My article has pretty much died since it's move to Letterpile. It sucks considering it was one of my most popular articles until it got sent over there. I know HP's home page would likely be worse, but at this point I honestly do not think it really matters if it's between HP's home site or Letterpile. Both get nearly no traffic and neither are beneficial to articles in my experience.
Edit to add: The problem with Owlcation is that it has too many niche's within it's one site. It makes it impossible for an article for some of those sub sections (theology, sociology, farming, just to name a few) to fit within that site's supposed criteria. Which is suppose to be 100% academic with no objective content at all. At least that is what all the editors have told me despite what Owlcation's editoral policy actually says. This is from their last bullet point "Originality: Considering the nature of the site, references are to be expected. However, it is your original reporting, analysis, experience or expertise that makes the content you write unlike any other article found online. In a world full of copycats, be an original! Not only will we notice how awesome you are, so will your readers." Despite that, they do not allow experience or analysis if it is not based on factual information. At least that has been my experience when trying to get articles on Owlcation when they have been declined.
Tony, they might do it. No harm trying.
Or, your article might be moved during a review. Happened a couple of times to some of mine and the traffic improved.
If I have something moved to LetterPile I delete it completely and save it to publish myself elsewhere.
I have never thought to do that! This is a great idea. I think I'm going to do this with all my letterpile articles as well. Anywhere else has to be better than Letterpile.
Kierstin, if you don't mind me asking, where did you end up moving those articles to? I have been considering trying an alternate site since Letterpile seems to be the default destination lately.
Actually, they're all just saved to my Google docs right now! I'm in the process of deleting articles from HP and creating my own site There are other publishing platforms (like Medium) but I'm at a point where I want to try my own thing.
Kierstin, are you giving on revenue or are going to try to earn revenue on your own site?
Tony, I'm going to go for affiliate marketing. I'll keep some articles here on HubPages because the earnings program here is good but I'm limited on HubPages when it comes to affiliate marketing opportunities. I've had Amazon links cut when they were earning money. I get that the team here needs to be careful to abide by Google's standards because there is SO much content here. But my hope is to create a niche site (like very niche) that can be a vehicle for not only Amazon sales but other affiliate sales as well - again, something we can't do here.
A friend of mine has had more than a few moved to LetterPile and he said his are doing well. I have been trying to do better SEO and it does help.

I can only comment at Hubpages but not on Network Sites. How to do it? Thank you.

Hi all. As indicated in last week’s press release, parts of The Arena Group have begun using AI to assist with content creation. Although several news articles have erroneously referenced the use of AI on PetHelpful and DenGarden, AI is not currently being used for staff content creation on any of...

This last year I improved my hubs and had 112 featured of 130 articles: Now suddenly they bust me down to only 30 featured hubs. I feel this contributes to a websites decline. I made a comment on a survey that I don't get any payout for this site and gave my opinion, and now...

Thank you for being a part of HubPages over the years. Last October, we moved PetHelpful and Dengarden to a new content management system, where they exist as standalone sites within The Arena Group and no longer receive HubPages author submissions. We have now decided to move Delishably,...

I'm amazed at the immense earnings on hubpages. if they can squeeze off a penny to give ya for page views. why in a few years you would have enough for a payout! ya'll know I'm kinda joking, but really?
