Is the Broken Links Checker Still Functioning?

I asked this several weeks ago and was told it is, but I continue to see evidence to the contrary.

If the link checker is no longer in use it is a very big deal. It not only tells us when links to other pages are dead or potentially harmful, but when YouTube videos are dead and when links to photo sources become invalid.

The result, eventually, will be countless links to 404 pages on every niche site and many capsules with nonfunctional YouTube videos. That, in time, will hurt all of our rankings.

Has anyone gotten a broken links warning recently and can staff verify that this thing is still in working order?

    Hi Eric

Yes, I got four warnings a couple of days ago. I checked them and they were all valid so I replaced the missing images and videos. I check the link pretty much daily.

Thanks! I wonder if it runs less frequently maybe?

I unpublished a few articles over a month ago and I still haven't seen warnings from the link checker, even though today I found places where I linked to those articles.

I've also seen broken outbound links and removed YouTube videos that didn't register.

Maybe I'm having a string of bad luck.

It's working for me. It either checks only a selection of articles when it runs, doesn't run frequently enough, or misses things, though. I am sometimes surprised by finding a video that doesn't work because the problem wasn't reported by the broken links checker. I think a video that doesn't run looks horrible in an article.

My hub on fertilizing tomatoes has a broken video that I need to fix. It is almost a week now that it is broken, I noticed when they selected it as a featured article on a niche site (forgot the name of the program).

I do, however, have one that was checked 7 days ago.

It definitely is not very frequent, I don't think it ever was? It does help if you don't look at a hub for months on end.

The checker alerts me but I am not sure it is working 100%.

Yes, I've recently gotten notifications for some and fixed them.

Thanks for everyone's input. I'm not sure what to make of it because I am definitely seeing links that should be caught but aren't. I can't even remember the last time I had a broken link warning. There is just no way I can manually check every single hub on a consistent basis.

When I get a notice for a broken link, it's true, but you can't rely on it to find every broken link. I check my videos regularly to make sure they are working.
