Hubbers without photos

Normally, an identity on a person/pet required you had a photo to go with it. But here some hubbers were without one. Sometimes I found it confusing if the person is a troll or otherwise. What do you think?

I always find it strange too but some people just don't want their image on the Internet.

That is normal. It is like some people do not like their photos in a newspaper.                   They even avoid being photoed with a friend, or relative, for reasons best known to them.

You make an interesting point. When I first started writing on HubPages I was very wary of the internet and putting a photo of myself up there. Recently I have started to wonder whether I should change my mind.
Just to throw out another idea. How do we know that the photos we see are actually of the people they claim to be? In theory I could put any random photo up there I guess.

You make a good point, as there is no way we can know. There was a troll on here recently that posted a photo of another person and then claimed it was him. The photo was from another site and theraggededge found it so we knew he was just a troll.
I do not think a photo is any help in determining a persons honesty or capability.

Interesting as it seems, that is an eye opener.   And then the troll boy kept coming on and on, despite the ban on his page.

Many people do use someone else's photo. Maybe they don't want their own photo on the internet, or maybe they don't like the way they look, or think someone more attractive will gain them more traffic. There's always the option of putting a photo of a flower, a pet, or anything else. I guess any photo makes it seem more personal than that generic silhouette.

Option aside, the image of the live person is best.

In my part of my country, an actual image of yourself can be use to kill you, no matter where you are in the world.        Your signature and symbols is you. So certain persons avoid being captured on photographic plates. Seriously, you had to be careful how you share image.

Yes, stalking is a real issue anywhere, and even more danger in some places, as you say.

My photo is of me, so I was told by my mother who took it, when I was about a year old in 1944. I am standing by what later became known as the "silver bullet" because of the speed attained when I hurtled to and from school. I chose this image because I wanted to indicate that I don't take myself too seriously and that I have a somewhat whimsical nature. It has the side benefit of foiling any scoundrel who wants to get a fake driver's license.

The photo with my name is actual me. I was under a guava tree with a mini laptop, editing an article.

I don't post a photo because my real name writing comes at a much higher fee.  I use a separate name and no photo for fun writing so as to not interfere with my brand.

Photo aside, did you use your real name in writing articles on hubpages? I don't think so.                 The picture I am seeing can date back to Victorian England or the early wild-west days?! So that's not you, right? Can you say more as to why?

I think it's not important to use your own photo. Many people use pictures of their children or spouse, but it doesn't mean that they are trolling. For me, it depends on my mood that which kinda picture I wanna see on my profile. I often change my profile picture because I believe that your real success is when people remember your name and your work. Like Alicia, Bev G or any other popular hubber, they got success by their talent and work, not because of their photos.
