Hey hubbers,
I have a question.
If I copy paste a text (actually a short story) for my article for the readers to have a better understanding, is it wrong?
If you are copying someone else's work, it is considered plagiarism and is illegal. If you are copying your own work from another site, it will be flagged as a duplicate.
Hey there, there's nothing wrong in copying and pasting your "original" work. I do quite often when it is not publish yet But as others, like the OldRose have said that it amounts to stealing when you cap other writers contents except short quotations, or dupliate when it apply to another of your publish article(s) else where.
Where do you want to copy~paste text from? Is it a diary, a journal etc? Or is it a .pdf file, etc?
I want to copy paste a short story
I'm writing about an author and I have one of his works (a short story) that I learned about.
That is what I want to copy paste.
No. You can't copy and paste somebody else's work without their permission. You can copy and paste a short excerpt as long as you give proper credit to the original source.
If the short story is not your original work, and you copy and paste it into the article, it will get flagged as plagiarism. Linking to the short story may work. I would read HubPages guidelines and see if your creative idea fits with HP's guidelines. You can click on "Help" on the right-hand corner of this page. You will find plenty of information on writing for HP. Good luck!
If the work is out of copyright, you can copy and paste (I think). In the US, copyright expires 70 years after the death of an author (for published works post 1978), 95 years after the first publication of an anonymous work or 120 years from it's first creation, whichever comes first. Copyright laws differ from country to country.

Oh Thank you for the information! I'll check that link. Thank you so much!
Remember though, if it is already on the internet, your article will trigger the duplicate content filter.
Okay and thank you! I read all of those and finally I decided to use a link for the story other than copy pasting it. I hope It would be okay.

So .... I was just flagged for a hub I wrote last night. It was flagged as a duplicate.I didn't even cite anything in this hub. I quoted a bunch of stuff in my Anaconda piece and none of it was flagged as duplicate, so someone must have copied and pasted my new hub. Everything on...

Do you write straight into your hub or do you copy and paste from your wordprocessing program?Sometimes my ideas go straight into my hub particularly some of my poems. Other times I use word to play about with the text before I copy and paste into my hub. Just wondered if you use your...
