I found my first hub plagiarized on Youtube today. Don't forget to check this platform! As if we don't have to fight off enough pirates already. sad Be vigilant in particular if you have pet articles. The channel that stole my tortoise hub has hundreds of videos on animal care.

Well spotted. And have you been successful in taking the youtube version down? What's the best way to go about it?

We'll see. I submitted a takedown notice and am yet to see the results. But I have a feeling Youtube is strict about plagiarism. I'm hopeful lol

Luckily there's a Report tab on every Youtube video. So if you find your hub on a video click on that and follow the prompts to report it as a content violation issue. smile

Pirating and plagiarism have gotten way out of hand lately. I would never think to check YouTube. Thanks for the heads up, Jana!

You're so right. The whole thing is becoming insane. It's like a tide of wannebes too lazy to create their own content.

YouTube acts very quickly when someone flags a video.

That’s terrible. Thanks for letting us know and I hope you can get it taken down.

That is so annoying!  Curious how you found your article(s) on there?  Did you search on your title or something else?  Thanks.

I was looking on Youtube for a video about leopard tortoises to add to my hub about this type of pet. The results threw up a video that used my name and even the small writer blurb I use for my pet hubs. I was amazed.

Unfortunately there are probably a lot more out there. They are hard to find but Google will serve them up ahead of your own article since they are the owners of the site.
They will take them down eventually but will also let the thieves know that you were the one that wrote the article. They will then provide the thief with your contact information so that he or she can bother you.

That's always what I'm worried about. You cannot tackle a thief for plagiarism without handing them very personal information. sad

I have found this to be true as well! A few months ago, I came across a YouTube video that copied one of my articles word-for-word. For the narration part of his video, he was literally reading my article out loud haha.

After I publicly commented on the video (about what he had done), the video was taken down. So yes... everyone should definitely keep an eye on YouTube pirates.

YouTube is owned by Google, so it’s very easy to get plagiarized content removed. As Jana said, there’s a “report tab” to make it easy. So you don’t need to use their general removal form.

Just for additional reference, here’s a link to Google’s removal form, which you can use when your content is found on any of Google’s services. Google reacts quickly to DMCA takedown notices. Same with Blogger, which is also owned by Google.

I have given up on trying to remove my stolen hubs from other sites. There are at least 100. Some sites you just cannot do a form for google to remove.

Nell, have you tried going directly to Google? They're pretty good at responding.
