   The lowest earnings for years! And I thought it was picking up.
   
   Thank goodness Medium and Adsense are making up the shortfall.

      Same case here but worse because my Adsense performance is dismal and wanting. By this time I thought I would be a millionaire but it remains a pipe dream. Traffic to my blog has refused to grow. I must be doing something wrong but it is okay. Let me be part of the bad example.

      The gardening season is winding down so my traffic is plummeting as usual.  It's the CPMs that are killing me.  I wrote a lot of hubs during lockdown so my traffic has increased but my earnings last month and so far this month have remained the same thanks to the lower CPMs compared to last year.

   Mine are slightly down on this time last year (2020), but around 40% down on the first half of this year, which was perhaps the best period I've had here.
   
   Traffic and earnings are currently edging up slightly for me, but I put that down to seasonal factors (school and college students returning etc.) rather than an overall improvement.
   
   I think some of the discrepancies between individual hubbers are due to the different niches performing independently. Some niches are doing better than others, even if overall the picture is bleak.
   
   Like you, I've sought to make up the loss through other income sources. I wrote 40+ hubs in the first part of the year and only a couple since the crash.

      I'm also seeing roughly a 35-40% decrease from the beginning of this year to now. Interestingly enough I made more than I did in 2019 (best year to date for me) for Feb, March, & April right before the steep decline started. Last month was the worst for me so far this year at almost a 50% decline from Feb/March.
      
      I was hoping things would start to turn around, but these last two months have me thinking things will only get worse before they get better.

   My traffic and earnings were edging up a bit too, but a Google update Wednesday spoiled the fun. And there's another one too today.

      With one of my HP accounts (not this one) traffic went up quite a bit this week, which I assumed was due to schools and colleges restarting, but maybe it was the algo update?
      
      Turbofuture and Owlcation don't seem too bad. Dengarden seems crappy.
      
      Though in all honesty, I'm not monitoring things too closely here, as I feel powerless. Part of working at Medium is about doing something positive where I have some control. It's psychological as well as practical.
      
      My sense is that HP are still struggling to find a way forward.

   I'm experiencing the opposite ... things are a little bit better though I'm wondering the reason why.  Who knows in this ever changing climate
