    Has anyone had this problem?
On one of my guides, the "How To" bit at the start is removed in searches.

Eugene, I've only checked three of my articles, but the titles appear in their entirety when I search for them. Google Chrome is the search engine I use.

I've heard about it even in discussion in the forums but had not experienced it.

Sometimes if the middle or end keywords in a title are searched, only the relevant part of the title is displayed. However even if I use "How to" in a search, the "How" bit is always chopped off and it looks odd. I'm wondering is the problem at Hubpages' end or Googles. The HTML source isn't missing the "How" part of the title.

I do not have many how to articles, but I did a quick search for a couple that I know you have and they all showed the how to part even the ones where I only used certain keywords and didn't specifically search "how to" or the whole title.

I don't know if you were speaking in terms of Dengarden or Owlcation or possibly a mix of all your different articles so I did a search across 3 different niches. My how to is on Pethelpful, yours were on Owlcation, and I searched for Brandon's on Dengarden. All showed up with the full titles.

      It's the one about BCD:
"How to Calculate Bolt Circle Diameter (BCD) for Chainrings and Bash Guards".
Even if I search for the full title, the "How" is cut off at the beginning.

I see what you mean, Eugene. I just highlighted your title and asked Google to look for it. This is what came up:

to Calculate Bolt Circle Diameter (BCD) for Chainringshttps://owlcation.com › stem › How-to-Calculate-Bolt-C...
Jan 28, 2022 — This guide shows you the math behind working out a bolt circle diameter (BCD) or pitch circle diameter (PCD) and gives tables you can use in ...

I haven't checked all the other ones with "How To" at the beginning, but there wasn't an issue with the few I checked. This one has been giving problems for some time now.

When I did a few key word searches for that one, I also see what you and Bravewarrior are seeing. If it is only the one article it makes me wonder if the issue is with Google and not HP. I hope you are able to get it sorted out soon. I agree it looks odd with the word how chopped off.

The issue seems to be with how Google chooses to display titles in search results. The title in the HTML looks right. Everything looks correct on the HubPages end.

Thanks Matt. I have longer titles, but the end is usually truncated. I don't understand why they treat this one differently. I've queried it on their search support forum.

My guess is that your title is too long and Google has truncated it to fit, albeit not at the end as it usually does.
Try shortening your title and include the missing words in your meta description.

Where I live, the title displays normally up to the work "chainrings" in Chrome. The rest of the title is cut off. The title displays normally up to the word "for" in Edge.

So it's getting mysteriouser and mysteriouser. For me, the first bit is chopped of in both Firefox and Chrome. Edge displays the title properly, just losing the end bit. Edge uses the Bing search engine.
