I was working on my income taxes this weekend and realized that I never received a 1099 from HubPages.  Is there somewhere where I can download it?

1099s are sent if you made $600 or more during the year. They're supposed to be postmarked by January 31st.

Yes, I know.  I earned more than $600 but never received a 1099.  Is there somewhere I  can download it?

That I don't know. Perhaps there's a link on your earnings page? I see a forum below this one dating back 10 years. HP apologizes for sending 1099s out late (February 10th).

I'd email HP staff. Hopefully, you'll get a response.

HubPages does not provide 1099's. PayPal will send you a 1099 for 2021 if you were paid $20,000 with 200+ payments.

Thanks Matt!  That solves the mystery.

I was thinking perhaps PayPal would be the one to send them out. But $20k minimum? That's not what the Feds require. Guess you'll have to claim the income as "other not reported on forms" type thing, Caren. Or not.

That's what I did.  I just like to have paper backup for every thing I report to the IRS.

HP hasn't sent 1099s for as long as I've been here.

We used to get 1099's, I think we downloaded them(?), but that was many years ago. They stopped doing that, probably because the vast majority of writers don't earn that much.

Hey guys I HAVE to have a 1099 form and I NEED it for my taxes in order for me to claim a moving expense, can anyone help me find it?

Read Matt's response above. He says PayPal will issue a 1099 once you've had over 200 payments and have earned $20,000. That doesn't follow IRS rules. Try contacting PayPal.

That is indeed the IRS rule for third-party payment processors such as PayPal. It has been the rule for many years.

However, this is the last year for that rule. As of tax year 2022, which you will file in April 2023, the rule for third-party payment processors will be the same as any other issuer. So next year you will begin to get a 1099-K when you accumulate over $600 in PayPal from all sources.

This article from AirBnB explains it, but it applies to all third party payment processors. . .
