"Although health problems and financial worries sometimes dominated his thoughts, Washington still felt it possible to find happiness without either health or wealth. 'Happiness depends more upon the internal frame of a person's mind than on the externals in the world,' he concluded. 'It is assuredly better to go laughing than crying through the rough journey of life.'"

From the book: The Real George Washington

    Very true. Happiness lies within.

Those who deny that are missing something within.

In the vast majority of cases, I believe that George Washington is right. His words are inspiring, and I’m going to remember them. They likely don’t apply to some cases of extreme and continuous or almost continuous pain, such as that caused by repeated physical or psychological torture, though.

      Alicia,
I hear you! I feel for those who experience such trauma and why I support the Youth for Human Rights.

    Tis very good.
They say there's no sense in crying over spilled milk.

Having a sense of humor as we go about our days is definitely the key.

      Brenda,
So true, though it might not seem like it when the milk spills over to the floor.
