Can it be moved upwards so the top edge coincides with the top of a browser window? Then it wouldn't cover so much of the screen and irritate readers. Or is it intentional to place it at eye level?
I looked at those banners recently on a large-screen computer and they look just a-w-f-u-l. Yes, I think that they are intentional.
Luckily they stay on screen for only about 5 or 6 seconds. Sometimes it's longer though if ads aren't forthcoming and it pisses off readers.
Eugene, have you ever looked at any of your HP articles on a large-screen computer? For me, it was a rude awakening to see some of my Hobbylark articles on a large screen. I grew accustomed (and complacent) to always looking at my articles either on my Chromebook or phone screens, which are obviously smaller. On a large-screen computer, the disgusting video at the top is greatly magnified, and so are all of the disgusting ads. I know that over half of my readers use a phone, but I also wonder how many are using a computer with a large screen. That can certainly explain why some us have higher-than-average bounce rates.
I do that all the time because I'm writing them on a laptop (15.6") Do you mean on a large format monitor like 32"?
Most traffic now is from mobile devices.
Yes, I am referring to a 32" monitor. Sometimes I go to my neighborhood public library and check on my organic search rankings, and they have these kinds of computers. They're awesome too.

I have been trying to read some articles on here and there is barely any room for reading the article. The top is covered with a huge ad or video taking up most of the screen. I wonder how many people just quit trying to read our articles because there's so little reading space.

I just had an e-Bay add snipped from my most recent hub but now I see that the precise same thing which I had snipped is being shown as an E-Bay Banner across the top of the Hub. Are the ads at the top of the page relevant to what I have been searching for online or and does everyone see a...
