Hello everyone,
Has anyone else noticed this? Some niche sites have our profile photos at the end of our articles.
I checked a couple of mine on Dengarden and Delishably. No profile pic.
This is intentional. We are exploring the placement of profile images.
Oh, Okay! Thanks for letting us know, Matt. I thought I was exceptional.
Best wishes!
It must be for a select few. My profile pic doesn't show at the bottom of my niche site articles.
So, how does HP choose? Why not do this for all authors who have articles on niche sites? Are they choosing those who are currently active? If so, that's not fair. Do it across the board or not at all. My niche articles still see traffic, that's how and why I earn despite the fact that I haven't posted anything new in two years or so.
Shauna, I don't think it has anything to do with the writers' active participation. I've been busy with my publication on Medium for the past two months, and I haven't published more than an article or two on Hubpages in that time. I think they just chose randomly for testing purposes .
It seems testing would yield better/truer results if it were global.
Lol!
Even though I have updated my profile image, HP still shows my previous image at the end of my articles on niche sites. I think you're right about the mugshot! Lol!
It's missing those lines that show your height
They made me a popular hubber btw after I uploaded that pic
Misbah, is this really you? Up until now your pics, which changed often, were of animals or caricatures. If this is really you, you're very pretty. Don't hide. You should be seen.
Yes, It's me. I appreciate the kind compliment, Shauna.
Much Love!
Then, please keep it real, my friend. You have nothing to hide and everything to shine!
Shauna, you are very sweet. Thank you! I never used to share my real pictures online for personal reasons, but I did so after seeing HP ask for it, and then we also received an email from Medium asking the writers to do the same. Then I decided to use my real photo so that the people I connect with online and the readers know I am not an AI. Lol!
Misbah, it also helps if you want to have an online profile for things bigger and better than HP and Medium. When agents Google authors they want to see a real presence. This applies to authors who strive to be published and/or have articles featured in magazines that pay real money. Think forward, my friend. Show your face. Put your best work forward and strive for actual remuneration. You deserve it.
The more I think about it, the profile pic should be next to the author's name at the top of the article, not at the bottom.
My experience is that profile pics appear at the top, next to the author's name, not at the bottom. High bounce rates will not feature the author if profile is misplaced.
If HP is endeavoring to bring recognition to its authors, that needs to be available upfront, not at the end of an article that may not be read in its entirety.
Most other sites who name the author at the outset of the article have a link to their profile and pic when you click on their name, which appears below the title of the article.
Case in point: https://www.thedodo.com/daily-dodo/tiny … -there-now
Yes, I agree. Who's going to read all the way to the bottom?
There might be a technical reason though because the topmost image is automatically used as a thumbnail with the article description on the network websites.
Matt, This is great to know. Is there anything happening that we need to know about?
We are working on ways to improve user experience and credibility for the HubPages Network.
No, I have not noticed it until I checked it on one of your articles. It looks good. I have not seen my profile at the bottom of my articles.
Which are the sites Misbah.I did not find in Owlcation,Reelrundown or WanderWisdom.
Hi Ravi, I discovered this on TatRing, TurboFuture, and LetterPile.
Edit: Delishably as well
Misbah, I have checked some of my articles on Delishably but no profile on the bottom of my articles.
Hi Thelma, according to Matt, they are still testing where the picture fits well; I hope they will implement it across the board with all its writers when they are done with the layout.
Blessings and Love!
Hi Misbah! I hope that they implement it to all the writers. Have a nice December. Take care.
I haven’t noticed this, Misbah. I checked some of my articles on LetterPile and Exemplore.
Hello, John and Shauna. I can see my profile picture in LetterPile, TurboFuture, Delishably, and Tatring. I'm not sure why all of you can't. Maybe try clearing the cache and refresh the page, or check from another device. Or maybe HP is implementing the changes in different locations? Not sure.
Yes, Misbah, I can see your profile pic at the end of your articles. Clicking on it brings up your profile info.
I wonder if they are selecting those with the most attractive pics first? I won’t have to worry about mine for a while then lol.
Maybe, we need to reread the Learning Centre about how to be successful on HubPages….maybe it now says something about “in order to generate maximum traffic authors must be attractive.”
Misbah dear -- I have nothing to contribute to this issue, but -- being loyal to my image of a liberated soul on this site -- and being old enough to be your father, I can allow myself the liberty of saying how your photo looks good anywhere, on top, bottom or on the sides of your hubs. LOL! So just let it be.
Yes, I've noticed, Misbah. It also includes my Twitter handle which will help generate more followers. A very nice touch.
Interesting. I wonder why HP isn't doing this across the board with all its authors.
According to Matt, they are testing where the picture fits well; I guess when they are done with the layout, they will implement it across the board with all its writers.
It'd be better at the top, but technically it mustn't be possible. The thumbnail is way too small too, about a quarter the size of thumbnails on the forums. You'd need a microscope to see it on desktop.
I think they can easily place it at the top, alongside our names; there is plenty of space, and putting it at the top makes sense; I do not think I would prefer putting it at the end.
That's the obvious place. I considered putting a thumbnail at the top. I would have made it as an image at the left of a long, white strip of white which would not be seen when placed on the white background of a page. The problem is that it would have been picked up as the title image of articles.
Yes, I noticed that too, Janis. I think it is an interesting update. I hope it will benefit the writers.
Blessings and Love, as always!
My profile pic is at the top. This is a welcome added feature as alongside the profile pic and a button to contact the author, they have also included my articles that have been published in that niche site. I checked on Pairedlife.
And, I don't think it has to do with those whose profile picture is attractive. Mine has a cat as a profile pic.
Haha! Oh! Ben, you've convinced me I'm not exceptional; obviously, I can't be as attractive as this cat. Lol!
Lol, Misbah. You sure are as attractive as the cat
Hahaha...that's what happens when a writer's non-human profile pic changes to that of a human, and the community that was used to different animal profile images are left with that facial expression, 'wow! That's the hubber!'
I think placement at the top is the more logical choice.
On the flip side, having the avatar at the bottom of the article may incline the reader to want to learn more about the author after reading their work.
Yah, having the 'learn more about the author and articles written by them' works well at the bottom.
On the other side, having a writer's avatar at the top is attractive.
Maybe they should put a writer's profile pic at the top, and more about the hubber at the bottom.
Yes, placement at the top seems logical, but you make a good point about bottom placement, Shauna. It would also indicate where the article is finished…which can be hard to tell with all the ads and “around the web” etc.

It took two years, but I finally did it. But normally since so much editing and work is needed to get the articles up to standard, they are still added to the top spot of the Profile page so readers know you have moved a rewritten piece to a niche site. This one wasn't, and I was told that was...

Thank you for being a part of HubPages over the years. Last October, we moved PetHelpful and Dengarden to a new content management system, where they exist as standalone sites within The Arena Group and no longer receive HubPages author submissions. We have now decided to move Delishably,...

I have accepted the many ads/banners, etc. throughout my articles. It is a distraction, but my hope is that an interest in the content, keeps the reader focused. Now, I am seeing, flashy click bait of other writer's articles in between my Title and introduction photo. Not cool. I don't want it...

Hi Fellow Hubbers!I'm relatively new here, and have recently started writing a story which I'm publishing in a serialized manner. I wanted to know if there was any way to group all chapters of my story into a single space in my profile page (like a folder), so that even if I publish other articles...

Who continues to edit and write here and notices an uptick or more in views, CPM or revenue?

Hello Beautiful Souls, I'm getting nice organic traffic to some of my LetterPile articles (poems). I think it's a very positive sign! Has anyone else noticed the same?Thank you!
