Lots of spammers putting links on these forums.

I've sent a bunch of these links to the team, but yet they keep popping up.

I guess the best thing we can do..is not click on those links.

The best thing to do is flag the spammers for moderator review and ignore them. Do not reply to the spammers because it creates more work for the moderators. Calling out a spammer in the forums does not help. Flagging them does.

Im not sure how to flag them...do I just tap report?

Yes, from their profile page. You'll receive a drop-down asking you to categorize the reason for the flag.

            Thanks Shauna...
I see how to do it from their message on forum.

No need to email us. You can report the article instead.

Yes, Brenda. The typical modus operandi seems to be open up some old thread and put some gibberish in the comments along with a link. I guess it is best to ignore it.

Spammy articles offering "free movie downloads" of the latest box office releases have become a plague on the Movie & TV sections of the site too. Every time I log in I report at least a half dozen of them.

I wish there was a way of knowing the age of a forum thread without clicking on it because I get weary of old ones being resurrected. Sometimes, there is a relevant reason, but mostly they're a waste of time in one way or another.

As others have said, the best way to deal with spam is generally just to report and not comment.

I also suspect that the struggle to control spam was what caused all the problems with comments and why we (essentially) lost that feature.

As an aside, I report the article and then go to the Hubber profile and report that referencing the article.

It's part of the territory. Just like Florida has giant bugs that bite and alligators with big teeth.

This is the best time of year to be in Florida, as far as I'm concerned, as the mosquitos and other bugs aren't active. Also, the weather's generally comfortable during the daytime without all the oppressive heat and humidity of the summer months.

Yep. Today I'm wearing a sweatshirt (casual Friday at work) and knee-high boots. The high today (12/16/22) is 67. Brrrrrrr! wink

Yes! I've been to Clearwater in January. I am wearing shorts. Locals are bundle up. It's because I am coming from 30 to 40 F.

Amen, Paul. I live in Central Florida and the heat is just as you say - oppressive. Not so much in South Florida where ocean breezes and those coming from the Intracoastal abound.

While here in Canada's banana belt (southern Ontario) the temperature just zoomed up to zero. That's 32 degrees for the three countries in the world that don't use metric measurements.

I lived in cold weather country many moons ago. I've been in Florida since 1976. I don't like being cold!

We have not to click on them. That is the way to avoid them.
