Can I do GA4 Setup before HP does?

I think they need to assign us a new GA number first, Kenna.

I already converted mine to the new GA4 just a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately at this time, there is no HP data available that I can see. They do offer an opportunity to enter HP's code, though we don't know what the new code is. Once done I hope my history is there.

So, my recommendation is to be patient with HP allowing them to do the conversion. I will come back after they do if I can find this OP thread and let you know if my history is there.

I hope that helps in some way.

Thanks. So I guess I can do some of the actions now and then wait for HP to do their obligations.

I saw the Forum post by Matt sharing we have to set up GA4 ourselves. As shared earlier I already had a few weeks ago. Anyway, today I went to my account and 'Yes' there was HP activity being shown. But, I did not have any of my prior history. It only shows data from when GA4 came alive after I set it up.

I am still exploring, yet it looks like I lost it. I don't know if those of us that do it now after Matt's posting will have their history or not. I hope other hubbers let us know if they do or not.

I may have lost mine because I did the setup before Matt sharing with us to do the setup. I don't know.

I think we discussed this a few weeks ago. Historical data won't be available. The only way to keep it before changing to GA4 is to export it as e.g. CSV data so that it can be imported into e.g. a spreadsheet. GA wont support viewing it.

You'll have to setup G4 manually. Here are the instructions. We previously said this would be automatic. Unfortunately, this will not be the case. You can go ahead and set up G4 now.

Matt, I've never use GA4 or UA before. So I failed the property set up. Can I have a direct link to do the set-up? Thanks.

Hopefully, Matt will come in soon and advise. I think there may be further steps we need to take, but HP needs to reconfigure our GA code first from what I understand.

Thank you. Like most writers here who have little understanding of  GA, I've not set up GA on my device after I started with hubpages, to date.

Please, can you help me with a link to set up GA4? I find it hard to do. I've never use UA or GA before. Thanks.

Will this affect our earnings at all? I'm struggling with the conversion. The version I get on my Google Analytics isn't quite the same shown in Matt's tutorial. Not sure where I'm going wrong.

Google analytics has nothing to do with revenue. It's like watchman in the down floor of apartment. His job is to note down the visitors, it has nothing to do with what you earn any floor of apartment. Only difference this migration would do is you may lose the data of who visited you in the past.

Matt didn't shown the minute details of this process. On the top of this if you create new tag, which doesn't retain the property from GA4, you'd have streaming ID which won't be accepted in the hubpages.

Do we need to transfer the new G4 Google tag over to HP? If so, would it be in the Configure area of the Earnings reports?

You don't need to change the analytics code in your report settings. You are just connecting G4 to your existing Universal Analytics account.
