Owlcation has a similar "Send us your question" feature. I haven't checked any of the other sites.
So I submitted a question to see what happens.
Yes, it does. It depends who the experts are … writers on Dengarden, or HubPages staff.
I submitted a question as an experiment. I'm thinking there'll be a pool of questions that we can help answer unless actual "experts" have been sourced to answer the questions. I hope AI isn't going to be used as inspiration for the news writers to answer the questions. It says "images and text may be used to create an article featured on Dengarden."
Okay, I will be interested to see what response your question receives. I hope they don’t use AI. After all they are unpublishing any articles they deem AI written.
If they're experts, that's OK if they use AI for structuring articles, but not journalists who know nothing about dengardening. I might try asking some questions that only an expert would actually have the knowledge to answer and not someone who just looks up reference sources.
Hmmm, first step in replacing us human writers.
The experts answering questions are not HubPages staff or AI. They are experts in their field. An announcement for this new feature is coming soon.
Very interesting indeed, I am curious about who answers your question.
I am sure Matt or Angel will let us know what's up.
It's on Delishably too. I wonder how they will handle this. Is it AI, or will they reach out to the high performers in the category and ask for our input? Personally, I'd love to be included in a Q&A again.
I think it is a new feature on most sites. I saw it on Delishably, Skyaboveus, & Wehavekids as well. I know communication has been subpar and I want to be hopeful, but seeing how it is likely site wide I doubt this is actually going to be an opportunity for writers sadly (unless they have already been notified, similar to ask a vet/dog trainer on Pethelpful).
I would hope at the very least, it is not for news writers, AI or otherwise. I'm curious to see how your questions get answered.
I presume there'll be an official announcement about this shortly.
When they did this sort of thing on Fixya 15 years ago, I used to earn $5 to $10 per question answered. They also had a thing a bit like Fiverr called "The Marketplace" where members could setup services. I had a manual sourcing service for people who had lost instruction manuals for their product and I used to have to go off and search for the manuals online. I made a few hundred dollars doing that.
Being a tutor and life coach, I'd love to do this as well.
That's a good service, Eugene. We could use this today. I bought a "scratch and dent" kitchen range to put in a rental house. It is in perfect condition, I haven't been able to find a scratch or dent on it but it didn't come with a manual. I keep trying to remember to look up the numbers on the plate in the back of the stove so I can try to find a manual online. Maybe you should suggest starting a service like this again to them.
It seems like a rather interesting feature. It's nice to see changes in place.
Have you considered using the experts you already have in tap? Example: I have a PhD in psychology and 30 years of experience as a research scientist.
Yes, they should consult you. You are an impressive lady. I have 33 years experience in editing and proofreading along with an MA in journalism. I think they could use some help in that field, too.
I just got an email answer to the question I posted, so I replied and enquired how the "Ask an Expert" would work. I was given an explanation with all the details, but probably better to wait for an official announcement from the Hubpages team before posting here.

Yesterday I invited a friend to try the hubpages. She declined stating that most of the staff are narcissistic head hunters who have a degree in English, play head games with the users they don't like, are unfair in carrying out their hub rules and often help the evil doers on the site if it means...

Hello everyone!!We're launching a series of interviews with the cool employees at HubPages headquarters to give you a better view of the people behind the site. Not all staff members have agreed to an interview (we have a couple shy folks!!), but many have, and I'd love to know what questions I...

I have had many personal requests that stem from this feature. Sometimes I am not sure what the person is asking because I'm not sure what hub they came from.A question that just says "my reptile," doesn't help me answer the question because all reptiles are different, and I have hubs on...

I thought that the questions would be adding to the hub, thereby making the hub rank better for certain terms. However, that's not the case from what I see. The questions show on the page but not the answers, so the content of the answer is not really on the page, therefore it does not add to the...

I really like the new Q&A feature on individual hubs. What I'd like to know is if there's a way to delete a question if it's inappropriate? For example, I have one now. Let's say the hub is about apple pies, their origin and history, and the question is 'What is apple?' That's just a made up...
