I finally finished backing up all my articles. Now what?

You're way ahead of me, Kenna! I haven't even begun, nor have I edited any of my articles that are still sitting on the original HP site.

Shauna, it's time consuming but worth it.

      Hooray!!

      "Now what?"

A question that has either blessed or plagued mankind for eons. Curious, I peeked at Google University seeing there is a company by that name, 'Now What'. Take a peek it may be inspiring while contemplating the next step toward the future.

As for me, seeing this OP motivated me to put the task of backing up my meager account. Most are poems I don't want to lose and will copy/paste into MS Word. Lucky me.

Maybe there is an AI program of some sort that will analyze the probability of an article to gain traffic and what media means to do it with such as a blog of some sort. I read a lot of substack contributors newsletters having about three subscriptions now. hmmm . . . possibility? I would suppose it would take some dedication to make that work and a niche of some sort.

Gregory, Yes. I do feel relief. Now, we wait and do what we can to get views and CPMs straight up and vertical. big_smile

How did you back them up, Kenna? What was your process?

Go to author view, click print, save as PDF in mu docment folder. I categorized by network site.

"Print" is in your printing program. Right-click, then hit print.

Shauna, I didn't have to because it's in the author's view.

But doesn't author's view only show on hubpages.com? I thought the purpose for backing up our articles is to keep record of how they appear on the niche sites. All of my articles were first written in Word, so I already have record of the text.

I just started the backup process with Delishably. I created a folder within my HubPages folder in Word and saved a pdf version as seen on Delishably (which also saves the annoying ads) and the HP version (which doesn't show ads). This way, I have the text, photos, and videos placed as originally posted in addition to how they appear on Delishably. Next I'll tackle LetterPile, then Discover. Once completed, I need to go into the 69 articles that are languishing on HP and choose which ones I want to edit to try to get moved to Discover or LetterPile. Good activity for closing out 2024! cool

That's wise to do Kenna. I have also backed up all of my work (238 articles, all featured) and just hoping for things to improve on Hubpages.
I visit here off and on, but I am publishing on other platforms as well.
Wish you all the best for the New Year.

Thanks for the reminder.  I'm currently updating all of my hubs to keep Google happy.  Backing up the revised versions is a good idea in case HP goes belly up.

I've just started revising the multitude of articles that are still on the original HP platform. It will take a while because some of them need complete overhauls. However, of the five I've updated, three have been moved to Discover. Still have a long way to go!

Hi Kenna.  I hope you had an enjoyable holiday season.  I backed up my hubs the same same way in addition to my HP stats pages which I also did a print to PDF.  You are right in that it takes time, but it's worth it to keep an updated status. (My attorney has always filed all of the necessary copyrights for me as I've never had the time.)

    Better late than never!

In my opinion, backing up articles can be an end in itself. It's a good idea regardless of what you do or don't do in the future.

I suspect that the site will stay around, at least for the short term. The significant moment for me was in October when the team of editors was taken away. It could've been shut down then but they decided to maintain the platform in a depleted form.

It has no future, though, without any investment. I don't see that happening.

I guess if their Dengarden and PetHelpful experiment goes well, they may take more articles. That wouldn't help us though. It's a declining Limbo for us.

I did only two out of my 50 articles.
I am still thinking whether it is necessary or not. Currently, I am busy with my blog. So, only after that will I do further backup. That is after 16th January.

Fifty articles is an easy number to back up. It should take you 30 to 45 minutes.

I suspect that I will no longer even earn a dollar/day in the coming year. The decline is relentless.

The fewer views and earnings I get, the less that the fate of the site seems to matter.

I backed up everything some time ago and will implement a few experiments now that the Xmas period is over.

I've been backing up my articles too, and reposting them on my blog site. The end of Hubpages seems to be drawing ever closing, judging from last month's abysmal earnings.

Yes, it does appear dismal, but it is Chopin's funeral march at best. Backing up our articles is the best insurance for us right now. Other factors, such as a lack of clarity on our revenue earnings, are also in play.
