Is there any way to eliminate the automated inappropriate article suggestions/promotions featured in my articles? They aren't even close to the topics I write about—in fact, they are the complete opposite subject matters and offensive. One featured a woman bending forward with her cleavage ready to spill out of her shirt, It borders on soft porn, and I don't want that kind of content in my articles. It could potentially be a deal breaker for me.

We have no control over what TAG junks up our articles with, unfortunately.

Unfortunate indeed! I go ads off on my articles because I have no say on what type of ads pop up. I may have to do some other platform shopping. Thank you for your reply.

      Hi Tammy,
I had that problem too, which, like you, I hate. I downloaded AdBlock plus, which is free and it solved the problem. It could help.
      Regards,
      Jack.

That would block it on my end but the ads would still be visible to those reading my articles. I don't want my name or articles to be associated with that type of content.

Unfortunately, this type of ad formatting is quite common on other platforms.

You can just turn off ads on your articles.

It's not the ads. I have them turned off. It's the other article promotions that are placed about 1/3 of the way into the article.

This kind of article promotion has always been around on HP and Discover. You are likely seeing it more often now, because all our content has been moved to the slush pile that is Discover. I've complained in the past, but nothing has ever changed, despite some of the articles clearly violating HP's adult content policy. Perhaps they do not have those policies anymore, even though they should. With everything on Discover, content geared toward children should be protected and quite frankly it is not.

It's disheartening that there is nothing we can actually do about it, and HP doesn't care enough to fix their broken system (related/promoted articles that are completely unrelated). For the most part I have given up reporting articles, because our ideas of quality, appropriateness, and plagiarism are not the same.

Edit: I noticed you still have articles on Owlcation and Letterpile. Have you asked for your content to be moved back? You will not be able to earn from, edit, or delete those articles once the move happens.

The move has already happened. As of April 14, 2025 only articles on Discover have earning possibility.

Yes, I am fully aware. However, Matt has claimed we can have our articles moved back at any time.

I cannot speak for earnings as I removed my articles the second I found out, but the sites currently look the same. Right down to the write for us link that takes you to Hubpages.

I didn't move my articles. I didnt realize that I could no longer edit. I don't profit from them so I really didn't care about that part. But all considered. I'm going to do some other platform shopping.

I just looked at one of my Owlcation articles and was still able to edit. It was somewhat better because the article suggestions were at the bottom of the page rather than embedded in the article.

Yes it appears for whatever reason, that they have not actually moved the niche sites to the other platform yet.

I prefer the niche site layout for article recommendations. The one embedded rec is subtle. Too bad Discover is different.

It appears that WordPress suggests related articles at the bottom of the page that are both relevant and non-offensive.
