Ok, so I have this idea. It may flop horribly, but that's fine too, I'm bored so, whatever. So, I've seen the 30 day challenge before, 1 hub every day for 30 days. I have not the attention span for that. However, as a drinker, a bored person, and a fast typist, I might go for 1 hub every thirty minutes for... uh... thirty minutes.
Anyone care to bust out an extemporaneous hub with me?
It's 7:02 by my clock (the one that counts if this happens.) I'm going to wait until 7:22 to do anything, including even click "start a new hub." If anyone signs on before then, we can all wait. I'll say GO in here.
If no one signs on, well, then I'll be watching forums and drinking beer for the next 20 minutes before typing my idea up and spending almost no time editing till after I hit "publish."
Anyone?
hee hee what a novel idea. i love it! i am working on a hub right now, but when i am ready to do my extemporaneous one, i shall clock in in this thread, write my hub, then clock in again when i am done. what a cool challenge
It was fun. I think I will do it again at some point. I have tons of hub idea I have thought about and sort of "outlined" in a paragraph or so. Literally a years worth, like 40 hub ideas. This will help me crank out a draft that I will then be compelled to clean up.
I imagine HP will hate it, because there will be clunky hubs up for a day or two, but, well, unless they crush the spirit, which I doubt they will, it's probably worth it. Long as they are "complete" should be good.
So we'd all start typing at 7:22 (10:22 my time) and we HAVE to finish by 7:52? Or is that just a recommended timeline.
Either way, better pick a topic now.
Yeah, that's the deadline to win the title of Super Cool Awesome Speed Hubber. But, worst case scenario, you get a hub in forty-five minutes or an hour and ... you have a new hub. Hardly a losing scenario.
Editing can be improved after.
As many as you can drink, but I suggest you get a bunch and keep them near your puter so you don't lose time running to the fridge. (That's my plan. I think this will be a three beer hub... at least that's my expectation).
8 minutes to go
How much beer do you have?
I have an (outside) article due in another few hours and I am way behind -- not sure if beer would help or hinder.
Rochelle, I have 40+ Coors Lights, 18 Coronas, 3 Budweisers (Gross, no clue where they came from) and some Pumpkin ale. U are welcome to any of it. And beer always helps
Is drinking required? I don't drink. (No it's not a moral thing - I just can't find anything I like)
^^ I already picked my topic. Can't wait for the 22nd minute to hit so I can get started.
No, it's not required. It's just fun for those of us who enjoy such things.
Finished exactly at 52
http://hubpages.com/hub/Crazy-Machines- … ntraptions
Awesome! Great work man!
Got mine in 6 seconds behind you. It needs work, but hey, it's up.
Will go check yours out after our last people check in.
We'll even cut Ivy 2 minutes of slack.
wow yours is long. It will take a while to read (but I will read it )
Yeah, fast typer. I am terrified to go back and see how bad it is, but hey, It's up. I'll fix it "live."
I just went and looked, it's 1,142 words. lol. I hope nobody at my work figures out I can crank stuff out that fast. lol.
Finished 3 minutes early -Prudes Go To Jamaica Haven't learned how to post the link yet, sorry!
just copy paste the url. It'll automatically convert to a link.
If you want to actually make it look human, use the Formatting Tips (bottom right when you post)
Cool, I didn't know it was that easy!
http://hubpages.com/hub/Prudes-go-To-Jamaica
Awesome. Gonna go read it before you get to revise. Raw is fun!
Yeah, it was kinda fun. Didn't have time to drink my beers though! I've never published a hub under 4 hours before. Now I know why.
Dude, yours is great. Will take you ten minutes to go fix the grammar stuff that we all knew was going to happen. I still ahven't checked mine. You got good pics and stuff; both of you did. I have to go get some. I was on the 28 minute mark when I got mine, so I literally grabbed the first Idiocracy vid I saw I have no clue what's on it. lol
Thanks for playing. (I only drank one and a half of mine too... maybe we coudl use this idea as a way to help people slow down their drinking? LOL)
The photos were the easy part. They are all mine so it was easy to download them. The text wasn't too hard to write as I've published and sold travel articles about my favorite vacation spot before. Now to edit the hub. But not tonight!
The10DollarMark... DUDE, your hub is awesome. It's got pics, it's to the point... it's commercial sweetness. I'm totally impressed. Seriously.
Thank you. It was on my topic list so I've been meaning to do it for a while, this just gave me the courage to actually do it.
And this was FUN. It was such a thrill to look for a video and of course to get the pics and to write content in such a short amount of time (Thank you amazon for having pictures ready). And of course get that edited price/shipping pic done in time. Especially since my hub glitched 3 times (one time it wouldn't add the picture, another time it would keep going back to the top, and one time it just didn't do anything).
Of course I'll need to edit it 'cuz I totally forgot to make a section for the DS version of the game. And I also think Amazon has the game as a download (I featured the cdrom version).
damn I missed it this is like the only ever competition I could win. qq
I might do this again sometime. IT was fun. It was like cardiovascular typing I was going so fast.. was fun having my timer ticking at me. Maybe you'll be in on that one.
hmmmm I don't type particularly fast but I can brainstorm something to write on and begin fairly quickly. thou I probably wont have any time to edit it, poor poor readers.
Okay, worked hard for 45 minutes, have several paragraphs, most of the pictures and products -- at least enough to make it publishable, with a bit more writing.
Look forward to finishing it in the very near future. Thanks for the challenge.
Ivy, I hope you will put your link up when you finish. I'd love to read it.
It took about an hour more, but it is finally done!
http://hubpages.com/hub/Pineapple-Home-Decor?done
Thanks so much for the challenge, Shadesbreath.
Hey, that's a great hub. I bet you get lots of traffic to that one. Thanks for playing.
Congratulations to all. Takes me almost that long to write 30 words.
That's because you keep limiting yourself to quality writing, Rochelle. You should come walk on the darkside with me. Post up some tripe. It's good for you.
well that's not technically true I think i actually can type but only if i forget I'm typing and look back up at the screen.
I'm with you Rochelle. I spend 1 to 3 days on hubs. I did 28 Helpful Health hubs in 28 days for the contest, and now seem to be taking a break. I should have done the HubMob roundup hub tonight, but just couldn't read or rearch anything else! I did some polish and finish work on a couple contest hubs tonight.
I usually take the same amount of time to do a hub too, rmcrayne! Just wanted to see if I could force a hub quickly. Not too happy with the results, though!
I hear ya Randy. Sometimes it takes me 30-60 minutes to get my brain in the zone. And 30-60 min to enter a hub. To do a quick, no research, minumal capsules, off the cuff piece... I think it'd take 30-60 min to think of what to write on!
That's why it's good to have a topic list handy.
I was able to pick a topic in the 20 minutes before the challenge started. Once you pick a topic and think out what you're gonna do, it's not that hard to actually go and make a decent hub in 30 minutes.
I love my topic list <3
I have no illusions that mine will make money, so I can just grab an idea and go stream of consciousness on it. See, there's an upside to low expectations.
I have an extensive topic list. I've kept a Word doc, "Hub Ideas" almost since I started hubbing. None of them would lend well to a 30 min hub. Guess the Crayne brain just doesn't work that way.
That's what you get for having something valuable to say. You have to be shallow and full of crap like me, then it's easy: just start typing till the timer goes off.
I'm sorry I missed this one but it was a bit early for Chardonnay and the fairies must have nicked off with the Coronas.
Way to go folks.
Kez
i can't believe i am actually going to try this but it will be a good exercise. i hope i don't screw it up. ok the time now is 3:16
here i go...
12 more minutes, GO COSETTE, GO!!!!
I want to do this, but not alone. Need company. Scared.
haha this was fun! thankfully i had this hub in mind already
http://hubpages.com/hub/SWINGERS-A-better-buddy-flick
time: 3:38
thanks WS. and Shadesbreath for such a cool idea
ooh see some typos in it. can we correct them after the fact? also i would like to put a link to this thread in it.
thanks!
Totally correct them. I'm going to fix mine this weekend. It needs pictures and needs to be broken into more text capsules. But, it's still technically done. No worries. This is just a way to make people write one.
Well done, cosette. I just read it and was mighty impressed. If you do another one, give me a heads up? Okay?

Ok, so a few weeks ago I was drinking on a Friday night (like every other night) and decided to have a 30 minute hub writing contest. U know, they have 30 hubs in 30 days, so I figured why not 1 hub in 30 minutes? We got like four hubs done, and another that didn't make it in a half hour, but...

I'm just coming back after a several year hiatus, and one of the most exciting things that started when I was here was the HubChallenge. Originally, it was 30 hubs in 30 days. Now I see it's changed to either updating your hubs or 30 hubs in 60 days. I tried the original once, and I failed...
