Last August, I joined HubPages, thinking it would be an "easy" way to make some extra money. Boy, was I wrong, but it's been an interesting ride, anyway.
I'm not the most prolific Hubber or even close to being the most successful, but for a "Hubber Hobbyist," I'm happy with the few hundred extra bucks that's in my bank account. I enjoy being able to write about whatever I want, and have many people read my work. I've also enjoyed learning about writing for the Internet, in general. When I joined last year, I knew absolutely nothing about SEO or keywords or RSS feeds, or any of that good stuff. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I have definitely learned a lot and now know how to get my Hubs toward the front of Google.
This July was actually my most successful month to date and I'm excited about my next year on HP. So for all of you newcomers who are doubting the process, stick with it, learn all you can and be prepared to work hard. I'm proud of the work that I've put in this past year and feel as if my time has paid off.
Congrats on sticking with it for a full year. And you've been more prolific than I have, so, while that may not be saying much, it's saying something. And I have, like you, learned a lot about SEO and stuff too. Mostly just enough to spoof it more than actually use it, but hey, that's something too. Good luck in the next year. May your wealth grow exponentially.
Well Done Naomi, I have 3-4 months to go and it is an interesting ride!
Congrats Naomi , I thought it was going to be easy too and I have learned it takes research, consistency, and time..
Excellent job, NaomiR! I joined in June of last year and was too chicken to write a hub until August! I hope my understanding of all this SEO and Backlinking improves, but for now, I'm just enjoying the site.
congrats Naomi, I've read some of your hubs, they're very well written. keep up the good work!
Congrats Naomi! Hope for another interesting year for you and of course, more Adsense / Amazon / eBay earnings .
Here is wishing you a prosperous year ahead on HubPages. It is encouraging to hear that the enthusiasm with which one begins their hubbing experience extends well beyond the first few months. Well Done!
Congratulations, Naomi. (By the way, how's that leg - all healed up? )
The fact that you're not happy with the "few extra couple of hundered bucks" makes me even more enthusiastic about my new venture (which I don't expect to make any money from)
Thanks, quite inspiring...and congratulations!
Hi Naomi, well done! My one year is coming up soon. I feel just like you regarding my start at hubpages. I think you are being very modest though, you are very prolific.
Here's to year 2!
Congrats Naomi! And best wishes for many more years and dollars to come!
Congratulations Naomi, I found that the 1 year mark was a tipping point for me, and that I have started to get more traffic and earn more. So I hope that your second Hubbing year is super successful for you - and fun!
Happy Anniversary, Naomi! And may your next year be even better! :-)
I am learning a lot here too! There are some really great people here who share so much and ask nothing in return. So different from the rest of the internet.

Woohoo! Three years on this great site! I love writing for HubPages and was so excited to get my 3-year badge. I'm starting to earn a decent amount from HP after 130 published articles, contributing more to forums and questions, and meeting some awesome people. I feel like I've grown as a writer...
